BEWARE! J Lewis Construction is a scam of a company that does terrible work and will take your money and run. We signed a contract with this company in late 2022 and it was the worst decision we ever made. We hired Jonathan to do a whole house remodel. Within the first several weeks of the project there were already so many red flags.
Contractors stopped showing up every day, then they stopped showing up completely. Jonatan started doing the majority of the work himself, and the work was of terrible quality. Some of the work was so bad it needed to be ripped down and started from scratch. For example, Jonathan stopped using his professional tile guy and started doing all the tile work himself, resulting in the master bathroom and guest bathroom showers being done so poorly we had to rip them down and hire a new company to re-do them. He tried to do all the plumbing himself (he is not a licensed plumber) and he ended up flooding our guest bathroom and living room. We ended up having to hire a licensed plumber ourselves to come and fix everything he did, at a cost of thousands of thousands of dollars.
The timeline started to slip drastically, and what was supposed to be an 8-week project according to our contract had turned into 4 months, with no end in sight.
When the project was only about 60% complete, Jonathan stopped coming to work on the house and refused to return our calls and emails, even though we had paid him the full amount already (our mistake). We came to find out after he ghosted us that he had lied about doing the necessary inspections needed for our permit. The paperwork of these inspections he put in our permit box were fakes. We had to hire new contractors to finish the job and fix a good portion of the work Jonathan did. We are still finding, after all these months, work Jonathan screwed up or failed to do at all. It sometimes feels like this nightmare will never end.
