The whole experience with this contractor was hard and difficult and simply terrible. This project took many, many more months to finish than it should have, due to him not showing up day after day, week after week, until we pressed him. The project began with a porch collapsing with employees and our son in the area and OSHA becoming involved. Luckily no one was seriously injured, but that was purely luck. We were without a kitchen or running water on the main floor of our home for 6 months. He refused to use specific materials that we requested, resulting in us redoing parts of the project to be on par with the rest of our home. Other parts of the project were not done at all - we are having them completed ourselves. He has no design/planning experience as he stated. We were forced to spend hours and hours and hours designing our project and we were also forced to hire some outside help. His ability to then execute those plans was marginal at best and his workmanship is shockingly substandard. We have had a builder correcting his mistakes for 3 months and this is ongoing. He was reluctant, and in some cases actually refused to make change orders. We had to remind him this is OUR home! His contracts are written extremely vaguely, leaving him room to interpret them the way he wants to, not the way we requested the project be done. Basic building standards were not met in some instances. The work that was done well, we oversaw, taking time off work to make sure it was done correctly, which is what HIS job was. This was a nightmare we want no one else to have to experience.

Basic building standards were not met in some instances. The work that was done well, we oversaw, taking time off work to make sure it was done correctly, which is what HIS job was. After a year we have discovered a multitude of faults with his work, one of the worst being a roof leak in our new kitchen, due to improper flashing. This was a nightmare we want no one else to have to experience.
