We had as small installation job. Showed up on time, prepared, work was completed same day. Paid fair price for the job. Happy to recommend.

Frankly, I'm shocked by the two reviews posted here. We’ve been using John Gindhart Contracting LLC for over fourteen years. From roofing to flooring, tile work, appliance installation, deck construction and repair, even excavation work, there seems to be no contracting skill that John hasn’t mastered. As far as we're concerned, he’s knowledgeable, conscientious and dependable. I’m fine posting this; we have always been 100% satisfied with the results of John’s work.

I had my basement refinished by him. Terrible work. Many deformities in the sheetrock, doors don't closed right, tiles are not evenly spaced and put in cracked, electrical problems, switch box left sticking out of the wall, and molding was left uncaulked. Did not use quality wood, have knots showing through the paint.
Response from John Gindhart Contracting LLC October 6, 2016This project was done in 2 phases in March of 2015. This was a basement/lower level living area project that had already been started. The client was on a strict budget. Our company went back out a few times to address the punch list items and were satisfied. This review/complaint was not submitted until a whole year and a half later. As there are several grades of wood and other materials available based on price, all materials used were to client's budget specification. We were never notified that they still had issues and if had so been informed would have certainly come back to rectify all issues, as this is our standard procedure and protocol. We have countless satisfied customers in this area. I am also questioning the validity of this review because as this job parallels the one I am describing, the User is listed in New, New Paris, OH? We are licensed and doing business in NJ. Suzanne Gindhart, Owner, John Gindhart Contracting, LLC. -

We used John Gindhart Contracting, LLC to redo our front porch. He did a HORRIFIC job. The quality of the work done was not pleasing to the eye. My husband asked him not to come back. We had other contractors come to give us a price on finishing what John Gindhart Contracting started only to be told the entire porch needed to be ripped down. We would never have been privy to this if the job was done “aesthetically”. John Gindhart Contracting would have finished the job and we would have been none the wiser about the quality of the work underneath the trex/porch. He did not use wolmanized wood, he did not install copper flashing, the risers were not cut straight and were too short so you see the wood behind the risers, he did not anchor the porch/stairs, there were chips in the Trex, there were bubbles in the Trex where he screwed it in, the list goes on. After we were informed of all the issues with the work he had done I tried to resolve this issue with the company but he would not return my call. We wanted our money back since all the work was not done properly. He had his wife call me and when I explained everything to her she sent me an email saying if they came back they wanted more money or we could just hire a new contractor and call it a wash... so they have all our money and we need to pay someone else to redo the work. We definitely did not want him back. The ad said fair and reliable - neither was true. I would never recommend this company. They didn't even bother to try to resolve this fairly. I have photos of how bad this job was if anyone is interested in seeing them. Do not use this contractor, you will regret it.

email is [email protected] if you want to see photos just make the requestResponse from John Gindhart Contracting LLC October 25, 2016First and foremost there was no estimate and/or contract for this job. Therefore there is no reasonable legal liability on either party’s end. Contractor was asked to replace a set of existing concrete stairs with a small trex porch and they wanted to keep costs as low as possible. Issues began when our company was unable to only remove the top portion of concrete as requested and therefore it became necessary for the entire structure to be removed/excavated out, which the customer did themselves. Next there were pricing discrepancies with regard to the railings due to the customer getting their own price and the supplier’s clerk making errors. The customer’s wife was then not happy with the color of the trim installed around the porch chosen by her husband. Contractor met with clients on a weekend and explained a new color choice would incur additional expense to take down and replace what they chose in the first place. Next communication was phone call saying they did want our company back at the job to address any of the other discrepancies that would have been handled, i.e. damaged trex board, etc. Simply stated they were only seeking to gain back their money already spent in labor and material by the contractor. Therefore, the contractor had no opportunity to resolve any issues on the job. Furthermore, the framing base referred to was repaired and replaced with the same exact materials that were originally in place, agreed upon to keep costs down.

Paid good money for a botched and dangerous outcome!! The entire wall is now buckling and shifting to adjoining walls causing extended structural issues. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
