Very pleased! John did an outstanding job. He returned my call immediately, came out THAT day to give an estimate, which was extremely fair! His guys showed up right on time, were courteous, professional, and very neat. I highly recommend him. He did everything including pulling the permits for me!

I hired John to demolish and haul away an old single wide trailer. He pulled permits and did all the things that township required. He was such a pleasure to deal with, he always responded promptly.

By Phillip M.July 25, 2016Verified HireHired for excavation project
I hired John back in May 2016 to excavate my property to remove tree stumps and several large piles of wood chips. John and his team did an outstanding job making my yard look great. After clearing and cleaning it up John applied grass seed and straw by hand. Lastly, the trench work John Gmelch did was SUPERB and I and the wife could not express how happy we were with it! I would hire John again for any work I needed down the road.

John Gmelch has done many jobs for me. I am a builder and landlord. John has dug many sewer and water lines when they need to be replaced. John raked and seeded new lawns for me and top soiled for me and leveled lots.
John also built a boulder wall at my home that is amazing. John used large boulders from my job site and we get many comments on the wall. It has been five years since he built it and it is very nice.
As for the water and sewer lines when it comes to emergency repairs he is there quickly. This last one he even lifted the pavement, dug the trench and laid the slab back in place without breaking it. Don't expect that but it was a nice surprise. He dug the trench to the street early in the morning, we laid the copper and the job was inspected completed by noon.
His prices are good and he is very attentive. My contractor and I have been using John's services for years. -

John Gmelch Excavating did excellent work for me this spring. I was very impressed with how quickly and efficiently he installed my septic system. He gave me a good price for the installation and removal of the old tank. He was at my house everyday until the job was completed. When he left he spread grass seed and hay down. It is already beginning to grow. We are planning on calling him for more work in the future as to we were so impressed with how well the septic system came out. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to get any type of excavation done at their home!

John Gmelch is a friendly courteous person to work with but his workmanship is horrible. Simple jobs moving dirt is all he is capable of handling. His lack of experience with reading prints and working on boulder retaining walls is painfully obvious. He destroyed every existing line and sewer pipe from the house multiple times even though they were marked and refuses to return for repairing a boulder wall that has completely fallen apart. The wall did not just move or settle but literally fell apart. Even the simple task of grading is incorrect leaving our entire front yard close to 10 inches to high(a lazy alternative to placing it in the backyard where it was needed). He will also hold your job in queue and work elsewhere on smaller jobs until your ready to give up on his promises. This is my first on line review ever and feel the necessity to share and hopefully spare someone the same mistake. I would love to post pictures somewhere to share my results.

John Gmelch excavating has done work for me and all throughout my neighborhood. He does excellent work and is quite the perfectionist. I was more than satisfied with the work he has done for me. He does anything from small jobs like digging a hole for a tree to big jobs like clearing a 30 acre lot. I strongly recommend giving John a call he has the best prices in Lehigh Valley!
