As a first time home buyer, I had a great experience working with both John and Christine. I have been living in my house for almost 6 months now, and everyday my wife and I look around and are thankful of how beautiful the house was built. We recently went through the "winter storm" and came out of it with no damages. This speaks to how well things were built externally and internally. John even had the external pipes wrapped while he was building the house and it's small things like these that made us extremely comfortable knowing we picked the right builder.
My wife and I visited during an open house and knew just after walking through the house for 1 minute that we wanted to live there. Previously, we looked through hundreds of homes and could not believe the amount of extra detail that John put into the house that we never saw in other homes within our price range. From the high-end appliances, added storage room under the stairwell with sliding barn doors, backyard covered deck, built in shelving, standalone bath tub, dedicated laundry room, 4 car driveway, and much more, John built this house without cutting any corners and really went over the top with all the additions.
Working with Christine during the buying process was a great experience. I remember the first time I spoke with Christine was two days before the house was on the market. At the time, although the house was everything we wanted, it was over my initial price range. When I spoke with her on the phone that night, she didn’t press me to buy the house even though I loved it or to make a sell, instead, she was really caring regarding my personal budget and told me to only buy the house if we can truly afford it, comfortably. It was really warming to hear that.
All in all, I highly recommend buying a house from John and Christine. The house we bought is absolutely amazing and if you don’t believe it from me, it speaks volume that my wife and I have received several compliments on the house from our family and friends and asking who the builder was.

My wife and I are fortunate to have found John. He made our dreams come true with a stunning custom home. John and his trades were all trustworthy, detail oriented, and show a true passion for building a quality home.
I’m a firm believer in there’s no, “perfect house” but with a John Michael home you’re going to have a hard time finding any imperfections.
Highly recommend ! -

I have built three homes with John Michael LLC and found John to be one of the most detailed and knowledgeable builders with whom I have ever worked. John's build process is efficient, cost effective and on time. John is on site the majority of the time ensuring the workmanship and quality of the build. Upon closing, John furnishes a comprehensive list of subcontractors on each project and informs the buyers of how to maintain the home. I can highly recommend contracting with John Michael on your next project.

We recently purchased our home on November 2020. We absolutely love our home in Houston Heights; the layout is open and efficient and there is no wasted/dead space in the house. When talking to John about the house and its features, you can tell he is very meticulous and takes pride in his homes. Prior to closing, John does a walkthrough of the home and will do a detailed review of home maintenance (AC unit care, where to change air filters, hot water heater maintenance, location of water shut-off, etc); in addition, he prints out all of his contractor info so you're prepared as a homeowner about who to contact and when. In addition, John, the builder, and Christine, his wife/realtor, were very easy to work with; you can email/call/text them anytime with any questions. Christine ensures that she answers everything clearly and directly so there is no ambiguity during the contracting process and ensured that our requested customizations (light fixtures, hardware, and countertops) were available/in-stock and met our expectations throughout the construction process. All-in-all, we had a great experience with our home buying experience and the house is in great shape after being move in for about 3 months now.

We have purchased 4 homes in 12 years, all in the same area, with three of them being new builds, and our best experience this far has been with John Michael.
Not only was our rapport always friendly from the very start, I felt they consistently went above and beyond to make the home design and buying process incredible.
I was able to customize many elements of our home, which most builders in our area are not open to at all. I have been very happy with the quality of our home and John and his wife Christine were always there to answer questions and let us be part of the process.
Christine even went above and beyond and went to the stone yard and FaceTime'd me to show me some slabs when I was in between two choices. I truly felt like their only customer and we have kept in touch even over a year after closing on our home.
We have not had any issues with our home after over a year of living in it. I feel the tradespeople working on these homes are very skilled - we had custom built-ins made and they're beautiful. If we've ever had an issue, Christine was just a text away and always responds promptly. During the recent severe weather event in Houston, we even contacted the plumber who worked on our home and he could not have been more gracious and kind answering some questions we had about turning out water back on.
I have already told John and Christine that I hope they'll work with us one day to build us a custom home when we're able to!

Would highly recommend this builder, excellent workmanship and follow up, it’s easy for others to use a false name and post a bad review without accountability.

We bought a home from these folks in March 2017, while we like the house itself, we did have a couple of issues. One of our toilets would not flush properly. When the toilet was removed, you could see where pipe was “honker jawed”. I sent picture to builder and he was so fast o tell me the piping just fine. Told him other toilet was not like this and flushing just fine. Before the year was up I notified them all our trim work around doors was separating...told me all houses do that and it’s owners responsibility anyway. Same thing with grout in showers in the corners...all separating. The house I moved out of was 30+ years old and trim not separating. I don’t know if their subs are inferior or if they are using inferior products...either way...they don’t stand behind their work. Also, when warranty work was done (the small amount that was), we, too, had to call subs to get it done. My house is three years old now and if you are considering purchasing from them, would be glad to give you a tour of mine.
Response from John Michael LLC March 10, 2021The homeowner's first complaint is about a toilet, the toilet was installed with a conventional offset flange, when the plumber went for the warranty call the toilet was operating as intended, there was no issue with the toilet at the time of the service call. We responded promptly and then closed out the service ticket. The second complaint she refers to separation in the mouldings. This is very common in Houston, she closed in the springtime, by the time winter had come in 2017/2018 it was a long heating season and without the homeowner keeping the humidity levels consistent from summer, the mouldings commonly shrink and then re-expand in the following cooling season. It was explained at the time of orientation that caulking is a routine maintenance item of the homeowner/buyer. In August of 2017, Houston experienced higher than normal humidity from Hurricane Harvey which was followed up with a very dry long heating season The third complaint refers to grout cracking where vertical and horizontal areas meet, again with lack of humidity the open cell wood will shrink and then expand due to humidity levels, the simple fix is to re-caulk those areas. She has posted a negative review asking people to "tour" her home. She has given no complete name or address for people to contact. This is the flaw with this online website, people are able to post a review if they don't get exactly what they want or expect from a homebuilder and hide behind a name "Betty B". I can forward all email correspondences with this homeowner, they were cordial and detailed. She even emailed asking which contractor to contact, which we returned the information to her. I was told numerous times by her, her husband, and the Buyer's agent how beautiful the home was and the location and lot size. The closing happened with no issues and then a negative review was posted almost 4 years after closing?

We purchased a new home in the Heights from John Michael Homes. Prior to buying the home, I contacted John to do my due diligence in researching his background and home building experience. He could not have been nicer, more professional, or more knowledgeable. But, more than that, John Michael was so excited about his life’s work, the quality and pride he feels about the finished product, his attention to detail, his ability to find and keep the best subcontractors, and his overall desire to make his customers happy in their new home. I expected to talk for a few minutes, but John was very happy to take his time to address any and all questions I had. I knew then that John Michael was the person I wanted to build our home.
The home in the Heights is just perfect! It is very open and has a light, airy feel. One of its unique qualities is a beautiful brick wall in the kitchen with quartz counters and lovely black cabinets. The home is well-built and has many state-of-the-art amenities. Bedrooms and living spaces are very roomy, and the bathrooms have a very relaxing quality in their use of space and detail.
The best part of the whole experience is that John Michael continues to care about his clients and the home, even after the closing date. If I have ever had a question or concern, I have contacted him and he has ALWAYS been very quick to respond, taken a vested interest in my query, and has tried to give me the benefit of his immense knowledge. John Michael is someone I trust because he has great character, patience, and integrity!
