  John Owens is part of a building project for Patriots Point in Lakeland Georgia. We went under contract on 11 June to buy a newly built house. At that point we were told that the house was complete minus some “minor” things. We are currently set to close on the 9th of July. The house has not been touched since we went under contract minus installing the stove/microwave. “Minor” things include door seals not installed so the house is currently overrun with spiders; a barn door not hung, the fence that was agreed upon has not been started, all the cupboards are missdrilled making them all uneven and several other cosmetic issues. We were told by the investor agent that the repairs would be complete based on closing dates. With that in mind we requested to move up the closing date, to 3 July since we have done everything as soon as possible (housing inspection, appraisal, earnest money) and we were told that they in fact wouldn’t be making the fixes based on closing dates. At this point we are not even confident they will have the house ready by the original closing date. We were told they are closing on 15 other houses at the same time... one at least is in the same position we are in, and one of their repairs indicated they have a crack in the foundation (different builder; same project). We can clearly see the builder is concerned with his money and time but not ours. We are paying out of pocket to live in a hotel and his actions indicate he isn’t interested in the customers. He knows the house will be sold regardless of if we buy it or someone else does. Although his craftsmanship is average, his customer service and ethic are questionable. If you want a house he is your person... if you want it done in a reasonable amount of time with things done right and not just fast... you may want to find someone else.

  John P. Owns started with an office in Valdosta Ga. Home built for us in 2008 range. Contractor sublet with local illegal aliens, high school kids, and convicts for most of the general construction. This is not hearsay as I talked (or tried to talk) to the crews as they were on site. Kids who pulled our electricity were 11th graders. End results... poor construction, cheap furnishings, and unprofessional finish in what should have been a quality home. To top it off, we paid for more house than what was planned, agreed upon, and built. This wasn't found out until the home was reappraised 2 years later by the county tax auditor...floor space shorted by nearly 500 sq ft. He would not stand behind his product and we had to fight over repairs...even during the "warranty" period. Think twice about having anything built by this guy.
