BEWARE! John is just like all the other negative reviews describe him on this page. I also got a court judgment against him in 2017 which he refuses to acknowledge and has been ignoring collection agency calls. While I pursue my claim, it might help for others to check his public records and demand a full report of all customer complaints against him from NJ Divison of Consumer Affairs and other relevant agencies using OPRA before putting your money at risk. Just calling the division of consumer affairs and asking for his history on the phone was not sufficient, something I learned the hard way.

Back in 2004- 2005 John "Jack" O'Halloran / Peninsula Builders - started bare minimum on a siding job. He took out a bunch of permits to start a ton of work. He requested a large down payment. as soon as he received the payment he showed up on the job site twice and never returned. He left all the prep work on my house and open permits. I'm still trying to communicate with him to get back the money he STOLE from me.
He is NOT trusty worthy - a scam artist!!!
Jack if you are reading this ... please know I will find you and have my day in court with you to get my money back that you've stolen.
Sincerely,
A Hazlet resident! -

I hired Mr. Oh'Halloran to do interior and exterior work in my new house. He was dependable, hard working, highly skilled and got the job done ahead of schedule. I am shocked to see the negative reviews. I am suspicious of the reviews posted in the same month in 2013.
I highly recommend Mr. O'Halloran to anyone that wants to hire an experience, hard working and honest contractor

Actually shocked to read above reviews. Hired to frame a 8x30 addition. Presented contract, insurance info, and met all phases. Was very competent and experienced. Not a crew, handle project mostly himself but with township time for inspections there is no rush. Daughter just purchased a new home and will hire his services again. Always answered our text or calls.

He seems like a good person, but in reality, he is morally abandoned. As others have stated, he'll take your money, begin a sham job to make it look as though he is making progress to ask for more money, will leave a mess, and will disappear. Shame on him! Stay away!!!!

He is a lying, cheating con man. We have tried to drag him into court, but he has no assets. This is a guy News 12 should do a segment on so that others are not taken by him.

We have had a simiar story to others on this board. O'Halloran looks you right in the eye, talks a very good story, takes the money, and then disappears. We will be starting legal action against him soon.

Absolutely under no circumstances hire John "Jack" O'Halloran. Do not be fooled into thinking this guy will finish the job, he will take your money and not deliver. I contracted him to build a detached garage and he left the project half way. He pocketed my deposits and the previous payments and could not come up with any money for materials to finish the project. Every day is a difference excuse and he shows no desire to actually perform any work. As you can see from the comments below he just collects deposite and payments. Currently in the process of filing a court case to sue Jack for the cost of having to hire someone else to finish the job.
Additionally, his cell phone is no longer in service and is non-responsive through email. Home owners beware.

Would give no stars if possible. Same comments as posted by the others, does good work when/if he shows up, always pushing to get money payments even when project tasks aren't fully completed, as well as very pushy to get contracts signed just to get deposit money in his pocket. We actually had to find someone else to finish our basement project since some details of the work were not completed, but were paid in full, "Jack" just never returned to my home. He even walked away with our addition contract signing money without starting the project and no refund has been provided at this point. Stay clear of this so called contractor!

Same experience as the prior comment. He does a good job, no doubt about it. But only if you can get him to come and do it. Always keeps asking for money ahead of schedule and once he gets the money, disppears till the next time he needs money. I paid him about 10K in advance and after a year of dragging his feet on my project, decided to get another contractor and finish the job. Do not hire him, no matter how honest he sounds.

Mr. O'Halloran makes promises he can not deliver and is not reachable on a normal basis. I entered into contract with him and took my deposits and payments, often asking for them ahead of schedule, and did not perform. My project was half completed and I was stuck having to search for another contractor to finish the job.

Mr. John O’’Halloran is a flat out thief!!! Stay away from this man’s services and phony promises. He has no resources and his main method of any follow up is to take your money and never respond to you again.
He ripped us off for a couple thousand dollars and never responded to us again.
BUYER BEWARE!!!
