    New Custom Built Home
    $248,000

Jon's Custom Homes has been our worst nightmare. From promises made at purchase of lot to disastrous dealings with financial quotes, where his team delays without any contact or updates resulted in another refinance agreement. CUSTOM.... I laugh. We were told what type of lights etc. Stayed in a hotel for almost 10 days because I had already given notice to my apartment complex.
CUSTOM cabinets still don't have matching cabinet fronts or hardware. The drawers fall out and the CUSTOM kitchen has cabinetry layout that either doesn't allow for opening and closing of cabinets without bashing into Stove, or microwave. The Sink is the only nice thing. The finished paint job was unacceptable, the generic STOCK tile is awful, and they didn't seal or caulk any tile to baseboard, or baseboard to wall anywhere. But they sure could give me landscaping and a "beautiful brick surround in my garage". No return calls, no contact except once in a blue moon. Nothing but false promises. I don't know how this company stays in business. RUN, RUN, RUN away from the Wellston Hills Development. If the sites are even still there after a big rainstorm. Notice the Lots and Leveling it can't possibly be up to code. Yard retaining walls in front of neighborhood are nice, towards the newer builds nothing but cinder blocks, retaining walls are already leaning. These houses are going to slide down the hill. The workmanship on the most important things you want when building a custom home were handled by shotty careless workers. Look elsewhere there are better locations.

    Build a home

Run!!!! Worst financial transaction of my life. Took 16 months to build my home. Jon literally told me at the 6 month mark when we were finally getting the foundation poured “he just hadn’t gotten to my home”. I am a military member who told them that from the beginning I would be homeless if the house wasn’t ready. They assured me they could build it in the 6 month timeline “they” created. They literally played with dirt for 5 months. Later we found out this is their norm. They get people under contract drag their feet and push them to let them out of the contract so they can turn around and sell the home for more. During the 16 months several homes were completed that were options for us when we chose our lot. Jon and Christine are the most unethical and cheap “custom” builders possible. They do the bare minimum, the only thing “custom” about their homes are the fact you can change the size of rooms if you get a lot from scratch. After that their selections for options are laughable, and if you don’t like their options they up charge everything. For an example, I asked for paddle switches instead of regular switches, they quoted me almost 1k to do it. When I asked them how they came up with the price they basically told me if I don’t like it I don’t have to do it. There were several other times when I asked for explanations and they attempted to explain their prices and would send incorrect math. When you call them on it they say “well you don’t have to do it”. They tried to charge me $600 for ME to pick up and deliver tile that I found that was better than all of their options.

After all this is said and done we got to our walk through and the craftsmanship is HORRIBLE. They clearly do not take pride in their work. The grading of the home is horrible, the paint job is horrible, the tiling is horrible, the installed damaged doors/trim etc. If I can I will attach some photos or you are welcome to reach out.

I say again RUN!!! Do not do business with Jon or Christine.

Update: To clarify the Professional Painter they contracted was great to work with and does excellent work. The problem is they don’t like paying professional prices so they abuse their professionals to clean up the work of the non professionals. Bless the professional who made it possible for us to even be able to make the closing “that took them 16 months to get to”.

Another update Day after closing they attempted to have our water turned off. Lol they were late to closing yesterday to put in paperwork to turn off the water and told them to LOCK the valve first thing this morning. Newsflash people talk and we have water despite your childish antics ??? Sub contractors aren’t the issue your lack of professionalism and business sense is.
