Subject: Unprofessional Experience with Jordan Callier Construction
I’d like to share my frustrating experience with Jordan Callier Construction, which has been nothing short of a nightmare. There’s a reason his reviews haven’t been updated in four years, and I question the authenticity of the reviews he does have, which currently average 4.0.
Jordan was referred by Reborn Cabinets in Livermore, who installed Jacuzzi Showers in both of my bathrooms. The individual who initially recommended Jordan is no longer with Reborn, and based on my experience, it’s clear why.
The scope of the work was simple: a redo in both bathrooms with new tile floors, new vanities, new medicine cabinets, new lighting, and ceiling exhaust fans. The project also involved moving electrical outlets and overhead vanity lights a few inches higher.
We had subcontractors handling the floor installation. Although the job took longer than expected, the flooring team did their best to address any issues. Unfortunately, Jordan took on the other tasks himself, which turned out to be a mistake.
In the upstairs bathroom, Jordan failed to properly protect the area. He cut into the ceiling and removed the ceiling fan, which resulted in dust and grime falling onto the new shower, including the tracks and the floor. Instead of cleaning up the mess, he sprayed the entire shower, making it even worse. When asked why he sprayed water everywhere, he said it’s a shower and no respect for the new shower and floors that were installed. I had to spend hours cleaning the tracks and floor myself, and even had to call the shower company to repair and adjust the doors, as he damaged them.
Next, Jordan did the electrical work and neglected to use electrical tape on any of the connections, which is required by code. When I touched one of the outlets, I received a mild shock. Additionally, he left worn wires in the wall, creating a serious fire hazard.
Jordan also installed the 45 lb. medicine cabinet. Rather than anchoring it properly to the wall, he used small plastic anchors that couldn’t support the weight. When my tenant opened the cabinet, it fell off the wall, injuring him and breaking a $400 faucet. The cabinet itself was also damaged. His excuse was that he followed the instructions, but who doesn’t anchor heavy items that heavy into the wall? Since he had opened the wall to move the electrical, he could have easily added supports, but he didn’t.
Lastly, I had requested wood baseboards, only to find that Jordan had installed paper composite ones, which is completely inappropriate for a bathroom. Not only were they of poor quality, but they were also poorly attached with only one bead of adhesive caulking instead of nails.
I had to hire a new contractor to fix the issues Jordan caused. This included installing the medicine cabinets, correcting the faulty electrical work, and replacing the baseboards. The new contractor also painted one of the bathrooms along with all the repairs in just three days, a job that Jordan and his crew should have completed in 8 days but instead dragged on for over three weeks.
As a result, I deducted the cost of the faucet, medicine cabinet, and some of the additional repairs from Jordan’s final bill. While I wish I had deducted more, I plan on filing a formal grievance with the contracting board.
I strongly advise against hiring Jordan Callier Construction. The work was subpar, and his lack of professionalism has cost me time, money, and frustration. You will regret it.
    Buyer beware.
