I hired this guy Gustavo to remove the carpet and install hardwood in four rooms in my house. I had my own wood picked out from Home depot. He convinced me to go with a different wood from his supplier. He wanted to rush the job, so he claimed there were exactly 1100 Sq in stock in the store, which is roughly what I needed for my project when you take waste into account. He brought cartons that were 24sq each, which would have added up to 46 boxes. He brought 42 boxes to my house, and claimed the store was holding the remaining four boxes for him because they did not fit in his truck. On the day of installation, he did not bring the remaining four boxes, left his guys to do the work. I called him when I realized they were not removing the base molding. He said they did not need to, there would be enough base molding left above the wood so he just needs to add shoe molding to cover the gap on the floor to the wall. It was a hassle to get him to fill the worn holes in the wood- never filled all of them. The stairs, he claimed he did not have the right material to sand the rise, so he only sand and stained the landings/ steps. He came with two of the four boxes of wood he owed me the day he finished the last room and claimed the store did not have the balance. But he also did not want to issue a refund for what was left stating " He gave me a package deal so whatever material is left is his to keep". I made him come back to look at the molding which was shitty work for lack of better words. He agreed it was not professional - tried to blame me for it even though he claimed to be the professional/expert here. There were lots of back and forths... He eventually said he would fix the molding if I pay $200 for the work the guys have to do. When I continue to insist on getting the two boxes that were left, he was like sending two guys will cost him $500, he's taking a $300 loss by asking me to pay $200 to fix what he didn't do properly first time. He also tried to convince me to let him buy the base molding from his own supplier which I refused and instead went to Home depot. The day he was supposed to fix the molding, he showed up, started looking for one excuse or the other, Ask that I pay him the $200 upfront before he starts the job. THEN HAD THE AUDACITY TO PROPOSE PUTTING THE NEW BASE SLANTED AGAINST THE OLD BASE BECAUSE CUTTING THE OLD BASE OUT WOULD BE TOO MUCH WORK FOR HIM. He kept proposing things to cut corners for example asking that I only fix one room - my office space- and leave the bedrooms. Then tried to talk me out of having them fix the closet space. Eventually, he walked out without touching anything again because fixing the job he didnt do properly the first time was too much work for him. This guy is a piece of shit, very unprofessional, and clearly not worth any savings he claims he is giving you by having you do the work for him. THE FIRST RECEIPT HE GAVE ME DIDN'T EVEN ADD UP TO THE 9K HE ASKED ME TO PAY, WHEN I POINTED IT OUT TO HIM, HE CREATED A NEW RECEIPT AND ADDED RANDOM COSTS TO BRING THE TOTAL TO 9K.
