  Addition and then a follow on Remodel

  CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTOR WARNING
  JQ Adams Construction Inc or Scott Adams or Scott Adams dba JQ Adams
  Construction Inc. etc. was hired for two separate projects on our home—
  (phase 1) a living space and garage addition and then (phase 2) a front
  porch remodel. Our contract for the living space and garage required a
  downpayment to “retain” JQ Adams Construction as contractor. Since our
  living space and garage addition was fully funded by a construction loan paid
  in draws upon approval by a loan-required HUD inspector (keeping everyone
  honest), we paid the downpayment and agreed contractually the
  downpayment would be retained for the front porch remodel to tie-in our
  original house to the new addition.
  Scott Adams of JQ Adams Construction Inc. etc. abandoned our addition
  project nine months after starting the four month+ project; did not pay
  subcontractors or material supply house and has not returned our
  downpayment which was the cost of (phase 2) the front porch remodel
  project he never started.
  Construction work was inconsistent and sloppy—we’ve had to hire other
  contractors to fix, redo, reinforce etc. the work performed by Scott Adams.
  We had to pay subcontractors again as Scott Adams did not upon receipt of
  payment from our loan company. Now it’s a legal situation and through our
  process we learned there have been other situations like ours with the
  realization this is how Scott Adams or JQ Adams Construction operates.
  We’ve learned there is no real consumer protection for these situations and
  Scott Adams takes advantage of that. We were not able to find any negative
  reviews on him before hiring him—he built the house across the street from
  us; we had seen his construction signs throughout our town for years and
  wanted to hire local for our project. He is our neighbor—five doors down.
  There’s a reason he no longer places JQ Adams Construction signs on his
  sites.
  Beware. Bay Village collects permit fees from this contractor even with
  knowledge there are multiple complaints against him. Bay Village does not
  require contractors to be bonded (which surprised us but we were unaware
  of that) and contractor insurance only covers injury of a worker on the job
  site. Bay Village told us it’s not their responsibility to recommend or warn
  about contractors. We questioned why they would not want to protect their
  local tax paying residents if they are aware of issues with contractors
  acquiring permits in their town. As residents we deserve better

  Delays in construction,lies re completion and obtaining products. Owes money to suppliers etc. Stay away from him!!!!!
