    Replace Driveway
    $12,000

Mr.John Ennis is the absolute worst contractor I have had the misfortune to work with. We hired him to replace out driveway, the workers showed up on time and did complete the work in the time promised but after that it has been a downhill experience for us. He promised to give us a warranty letter the next day but has not. Cracks started appearing on the driveway in less than two weeks and when we tried to contact him, he started screening our calls.
We have been chasing him for over 3 month now with no luck. When we do get through to him, he blames the concrete providers and won't accept responsibility.
Avoid this company and save yourself the frustration.

    Resurface porch and redo steps
    $4,300

Mr. Enis did a great job resurfacing my porch and redoing my steps! However, when a large crack appeared, I called and he said he would be over but he never came! Called again and he did not show up! I can see from other reviews, this is something he does! Very disappointed in Mr. Enis that he doesn’t keep his word and doesn’t stand behind his work!

    Concrete slab
    $12,000

Stay Away. Bid on my project, when it came time to install he could not remember any details. Multiple changes for his crew had a lot of them frustrated. Later investigation shows that he under utilized rebar and failed to place in proper depth. During the project a septic line was pierced. We didn’t know this until 2 days later when the leak became evident. He was in complete denial and refused to help remedy. Bottom line, find someone more reputable

We contracted with John for residential driveway construction back in May 2020. At the time, he was the most experienced and held positive reviews on several websites. John assured us that his quality of work was "over and above", plus "we would have nothing to worry about" when our city would later update the storm drainage path in our neighborhood.

However, the favorable reviews were polar opposite of our experience. Between receiving his bid proposal and the commencement of work done six days later, major issues were citied by our city for John's work. Improper drainpipe, non-compliant driveway approach, plus lack of storm drain safety culverts. It became apparent that John did the work without seeking a permit.

John agreed to come back to meet with us and the city engineer. However, John never showed up.

Numerous calls and emails to John's number have been made since. Calls are not returned for the most part. If he does take the call, John's verbal commitments to follow up go unanswered.

JR&R prides itself on the positive feedback and customer satisfaction. This homeowner spent 3 hours cleaning up debris left by his crew as they were eager to leave and start their next project (see photos). IF permit process was done by JR&R during the 6 days between his bid and the date of his earliest availability, our driveway curve approach and safety culvert would have been discussed between parties, as they were part of city code since Feb 2009. The same city code requires culvert pipe to be reinforced concrete, not tin, as John recommended.

In contrast to his warranty, JR&R has not responded to multiple efforts for addressing a solution for correcting his work. Furthermore, this homeowner recommends reading other reviews (positive / negative) on Google, Yelp, BEFORE conducting business with JR&R Concrete and Asphalt.

    Replace driveway
    $7,500

Had a driveway removed and replaced. Within 3 months, noticed cracking and initially contacted Mr. Ennis via text. He responded that he would come back and inspect. That didn’t happen, of course. Since other cracks have appeared and grown. Contacted again with pictures and he initially responded saying he had been out of town & that it must have been a bad batch of concrete. He said he would come and inspect. Again, that didn’t happen. I have since made additional attempts to contact, but now think this non-reputable owner is blocking calls and texts. Save your money and avoid legal action.

John Ennis is a very knowledgeable concrete man. He replaced our 28 year old driveway and walk and the work is excellent. All work accomplished in a timely and professional manner. His team was very courteous. Highly recommended.

    Remove and replace driveway
    $8,000

I had a very good experience with JR&R Concrete. My specific situation was challenging due to dealings with a shared (x3) driveway. John was patient and thorough explaining various options. Quality work and great customer service. I will not hesitate to use JR&R again and will certainly recommend this company to my family and friends.

    Replace 3/4 of driveway

Update: Unfortunately I have had to change the review. When I finally was able to drive on the driveway again, I noticed a few things. My light on the far side of the garage no longer worked. I tried a new bulb but realized they had not only have had to have cut the wire but (I have pictures if you like) left the wire coming out of the concrete within the opening of the garage. They also broke a sprinkler head. I called John and he came out and agreed. He said they would take care of it. In addition, they left stones that were next to the driveway in a bed, thrown on the other side (again I have all this documented). I have text messages where he promises to take care of it but has been busy and that I should find someone and he will repay. I found someone and told him we needed a concrete saw to cut a small channel (rather than have him replace the entire portion.) He scheduled twice and never showed. After the first time he went quiet for several days finally giving me another date and time. He has now not shone up again. He has not returned text or voicemails. He has confused my kindness for weakness. I will get this fixed and send him the bill. Then of course there is small claims court if not paid. The money is one thing, but the lack of professionalism is another. Perhaps if everything went great I would still have a good opinion of him. However, it is how you treat your customer when you mess up that defines your work. Buyer beware. Accidents happen. Taking responsibility and fixing them is what a professional does. Unfortunately I learned the hard way.

Original: After speaking with a few contractors, the least expensive one had terrible reviews, I decided to work with John of JR & R services. While he was not the cheapest or most expensive, he laid out the plan to repair my driveway. The plan made sense, was reasonable cost wise and he came across with sincerity and honesty. Turns out he was right in all aspects. He told me what he was going to do, he did it and then we reviewed it. I would recommend him and his crew without hesitation.

    Asphalt Driveway
    $5,000

J R & R Concrete & Asphalt is owned by John Ennis. He's a dishonest businessman. The asphalt work is shoddy, and he will not return to warranty the job. PLEASE USE SOMEONE ELSE FOR YOUR ASPHALT & CONCRETE NEEDS.
This is a 100% complete and honest review of John. Not only did he kept telling us he would be back to fix whatever went wrong but he completely started to avoid our calls. Used the rain as an excuse. Said he was on his way never showed and then he loves to respond and review himself and his "great work" If you want to invest in John you might as well invest in a lawyer because the only guarantee is that the asphalt job he does will soften - break down and crumble just like his warranty.

    Repair asphalt driveway.

    Response from JR&R Concrete & July 10, 2019
Once we finished the job you we're satisfied and you paid me upon completion, 1 year later you say the asphalt was cracking on the edges you can't stop asphalt /concrete from cracking at times, I poured my own back patio and have 1 hairline crack. I even told you that the edges we too narrow and you agreed that would be ok. We do great work and for you to try and destroy my reputation is very wrong I am trying to feed my family too. I am a GOD fearing man. God bless you! Also, my company is listed on BuildZoom. I never asked to be listed and I have no intention of joining. They never contacted me to ask if I wanted to be listed with them. BuildZoom collects contractors’ license information, a public record, and posts that info on their website. They have posted an alert, rated me as a zero and telling consumers to double check before hiring me. This is negative and damaging to my credibility as a contractor of 20 years for longer than this business has existed. They do not have my permission to use may name or express their false opinion about me and my company. I have requested they remove me from their website and they have not complied. This company puts dirt on a contractor in efforts to charge people for their worthless service They call all the time and just won't stop!.

Not dependable or reliable. Just wanted money and moved on. Called several times to come back and fix cracks. He kept saying I'll be there in 15 min or this afternoon and never showed up. Won't keep his guarantee. Beware!! Ron H

Last January 2018, we contracted JR&R Concrete to lay the driveway of our new home. Although they were more expensive than the other company we were considering, we chose this company based on these reviews and having family that personally knows the owner, John Ennis. The project started off rocky when the roller machine broke mid way through laying our long driveway. Needless to say, half of our driveway did not look good at all. John assured us that they would return to fix the driveway. We took his word and paid him $8,500. They did come out a few weeks later to “patch” our driveway due to it crumbling in the middle of the driveway as a temporary fix - Key word here is temporary... Since then, our driveway has cracked, crumbled and looks like a driveway that is over. 20 years old. If you step on the edge of the driveway, pieces fall off. At the rate it is deteriorating and looks, it wont make a year. We have lost count on the amount of times we have texted, called and voicemails left for John over the course of the last 4 months to get what we were promised and paid for - a driveway that is done the correct way. The crazy thing is we were able to reach him a couple times in the last two month in which he would promise a day/time he was going to return but failed to ever show up. I took off work twice waiting for he and his crew to arrive only to be stood up and unable to reach him. All we want is a driveway that looks and holds up as it should. This review is our last hope at explaining our situation to the company and hopefully coming to a resolution.

They were working on our neighbors house, I look out our front window to see some man with his genitals out urinating on our property. They apologized at first but then when I called their business phone tried to deny it. Regardless if you think the house is vacant, you are trespassing on private property in broad daylight and indecently exposing yourself in a neighborhood with families present.

I was very impressed with JR &R Concrete, John gave a very competitive quote and I was amazed at how little time it took from the beginning to complete the job. Both John and his crew were professional and paid a lot of attention to detail and clean-up. I would highly recommend John and his crew of JR&R Concrete to anyone.

Put a patterned stain on concrete circular driveway5
    $2,500

John was paid to put a patterned stain on our circular driveway. Instead we ended up with a painted driveway (we were told that the concrete was old and could not take the stain). Unfortunately for us the paint started peeling within a month. Repeated calls to John to come and fix the problem have gone unanswered and at times when he answered his phone and made appointments to come by, he never showed up. It has been a year since the work was done. No sign of John and shoddy work with money down the drain. His work or word cannot be trusted. Farieda I.

John gave me undivided attention as if I was his only customer & this was after being squeezed in on his busy schedule There were no hidden fees, he showed up on time, the estimated time for completion of the project was on point, he was professional & respectful and so was his team, he encouraged me to get other quotes to ensure I was getting the best price, All I need to do is put a bed out there now cause I enjoy my new patio :-) Thank you John,,,, Verline
