    Build us a new home

    On February 3, 2017 we signed a contract with Judah Construction to build a new home. It stated in the contract that he, Mike Judah - builder, would have our house built in 6 months. As of May 14, 2018, it has been 15 months from the day Mike Judah started building our house and it is still not done. This is an example of a disorganized, inefficient, and incompetent builder.
    1) The first contractor Mike Judah hired was Mike Volz Excavating to dig and pour our foundation. After 3 days we discovered that Mike Volz was not following the blueprints. After discussing this situation over and over with the builder, it took him 2 months to fire Mike Volz only after Volz nicked an above ground exposed 100-amp electrical service wire and told no one. If someone would have accidentally touched that wire it could have killed them.
    2) After taking only 3 days to frame our house, it took Classic Truss two months to get all their mistakes corrected.
    3) From start to finish it took Advanced Drywall, Inc. 7 months to complete the drywall. They came back 17 times for repairs and touch-ups.
    4) It took Joe Downard, owner of Liberty Electric, 9 months to get the electric service to our house. We, the home owners, had to call the Public Service Commission to see why LGE hadn’t hooked up our house. We were told that Mr. Downard had not gotten the Load Sheet to LGE and that was the hold up for all those months. Then soon after Liberty Electric did not return to the job site for 2 ½ months. We were informed that he had quit. We asked Mike Judah who would be doing the electrical work now. He informed us he didn’t have anyone and asked if we knew any electricians.
    The builder finally hired John Waters, Inc. After 1½ months John Waters Electric only did 2 days of work. We requested that Mike find another electrician because they were going to take forever. As of today Mike Judah has not gotten another electrician on the job.
    5) The builder only purchased half of the vinyl trim needed for the outside of our house. The work was started last August and only half of the house was done. The builder purchased the rest of the siding in April of this year. The color of the new vinyl was changed to a lighter shade. Now we have a two toned vinyl trim on our house and Mike Judah refuses to correct it.
    6) The tile contractor said all the tile work would be done in one month. He started last November. Six months later the tile is still not done.
    7) On March 19, 2018 Mike Judah asked for the remaining balance owed so that he could pay his contractors in order to keep our house build going. We told him no, because it clearly states in his contract that the final payment is due the day of closing. At that point the work slowed down even more and Mike is doing good to show up at the house for 10 minutes per week.
    It appears that Mike Judah does not care when he finishes our house. We are very sorry that we hired him to. Most of his contractors are not doing quality work and have to come back repeatedly to make corrections.
    We encourage other home owners to find a quality home builder that has a good track record and cares about their customers and works with them, not against them.
