We have a contract with Justin Leal Construction for a home addition, laundry room wall & back patio w/ sidewalk in the amount of just under $80,000 & was given an estimate of 6 weeks for completion. We paid Justin Leal Construction the entire contract amount (less price of supplies we purchased & A/C contractor we elected to hire) The job started on Oct 11, 2017 and of this date, Sept. 06, 2021, the job was never finished. It's been almost 4 years. Work that was done was done badly from the beginning. That addition is lower than the original floor and was to be corrected before the wood floor was installed but it never was, the slats of the floor they installed are warped and concave, 3 standard size door openings were incorrect & only one was corrected. To correct the other 2 incorrectly sized openings they cut down the doors so now if doors have to be replaced they too will have to be custom sized. The home is from the 30s & door trim had to be custom made. They also failed to accurately measure the trim cuts & wasted trim &/or pieced trim together horribly. They didn't install a door knob on a closet door because they didn't know how to install a mortise type hardware, they used paint other than Sherwin Williams because "it was cheaper but just as good" but now the door & wall colors don't match the others in the room. Tile in the bathroom was applied incorrectly, bullnose tile where plain should be & vice versa. The back patio & sidewalk were not installed using paver base panels as agreed upon & some of the pavers are loose & separations at grout lines are visible. There are several other issues. I was given excuse after excuse for why the work not being done until Justin Leal ultimately stopped responding to my calls. He told me he sent people over to try & satisfy me but what he actually did was used different people to try & correct his other employees' mistakes. The price that was quoted to me by Mr. Ray Leal included using the brands & materials we chose. Justin Leal Construction did not complete the work that was paid for & what was done was done poorly & sloppily.
