I am a 74 year old handicapped person with intractable chronic pain. I am attempting to get some work done on the buildings at my property where I live. One building needs to be put up on beams and leveled, and a ditch needs to be dug around the perimeter to allow water to properly drain away from the building.
Justin came to look at the building 8/7/19 and said he would undertake the project. I had another large contract pending on other work which was to be signed in two days. I asked Justin if he could put a 2-day priority on putting together an estimate so I could see if both contracts would fit into my retirement budget before going to sign the larger contract. Justin agreed, but by 8/9/19 (i.e., 2 days) there was no estimate as promised. On this day, I was on the way to sign (and put a deposit) on the other contract; I texted Justin asking for a quick (rough) estimate, but no response. I had to blindly sign the large contract without any idea of what Justin would estimate.
I waited another 7 business days and called Justin asking if he, in fact, wanted the work because it was now a total of 9 business days and he had not contacted me or supplied the promised estimate. He said he wanted the project and would put the promised estimate together ASAP. I told him he could text it to me, or send it via E-mail. After the call, I texted him my E-mail address. It is now 5 business days later (i.e., 8/27/19, a total of 14 business days) and there is no word from Justin. I called Justin and left a message stating I would no longer consider him for the work to be done.
From my perspective, it appears that Justin is taking advantage of elderly handicap people in making them postpone their work schedules while he promises he will do the estimates (and work) but never follows through with these promises. In my "book", that makes this individual undependable. Certainly if Justin is not dependable for even providing an estimated cost on the work to be done, he would not be dependable in doing/completing the actual work. I will leave it to others to decide if this "un-dependability" might also carry-over into his transport/trucking business.
