Shaffer is also author of Houseboats: Aquatic Architecture of Sausalito and contributing author to Cliffhangers & Hillside Houses, a Schiffer book on hillside architecture.

In 2009, Kathy designed an addition to my deli/café. Her work was thorough, detailed and addressed the many code requirements. She was instrumental in working with the town in ironing out issues that arose during the permitting process.
