I signed a contract with Venancio Cruz from Kava-M Corp for a kitchen and bath renovation. I noticed he had left several details out of the contract. I had requested corrections. After several back and forth conversations, he had still left out the word 'backsplash' and instead had listed counter top installation twice. When I asked for further corrections he stated, “No worries”, just sign this one so we can move ahead and I will bring a corrected hard copy tomorrow for both of us to sign.” This never happened. Every time I asked him about the contract or any other concerns, his answer was always, “No worries, I will take care of it tomorrow.” At the contract signing he asked for $5,585 advanced labor payment (of $8,700 total labor costs) down payment and $2,850 for kitchen cabinets down payment. When the cabinets first arrived, I was charged an additional $2,065 for the remainder payment owed. Even though later, I discovered some were missing and are still missing to this day. We both went to HomeDepot and I selected the a counter top stone ($4,942 including delivery & installation) and wanted to pay. Mr Cruz insisted that he charge it on his credit card. His reasoning was, in his experience, if his name and information was not on the order form it would be very difficult for him to communicate/coordinate with HomeDepot on when to deliver the counter tops. Mr Cruz paid and then I paid him via credit card. Before signing the contract he told me the job would only take 2 weeks. He canceled several days of work for various reasons, always last minute. The project on dragged to 4 weeks. On the first day of week 4, Mr Cruz informed me that this was his last day on this project and that he wanted a certified check the same day for the remainder of the labor incurred. No explanation was provided. I asked him about our missing cabinets, our counter tops, and other items still pending fixing. He stated that the counter tops were to be installed by HomeDepot, he had nothing to do with that and that he will provide me with a discount for someone else to complete the project. I knew then that was something was wrong. I called HomeDepot to follow up with the status of the counter top and was told that the order was canceled a week after it was placed, two weeks before Mr Cruz started this project. That is when it had struck me that he had never meant to complete this project, thus his insistence on paying for every item himself and I reimbursing him. At that point, I had no option but to ask security in my Condominium to escort Mr Cruz out of the premises because not only did he breach our contract but he had committed fraud. Currently he is threatening me with a lawsuit.

Here at Kava M Corp when providing a Contract to our Clients we ask that they please read the Contract before signing, and have them initial in various areas of the Contract confirming that they have read each and every section of their Contract therefore serving as verification that the Contract has been Read and fully understood, So its difficult to miss that in both the Estimate and Contract provided prior to work commencement that there is no mention of Backsplash installation in kitchen area nor mention of Garbage disposal or any of the additional work requested. The Client was advised that we are contractors not employees and that states law helps people differentiate the two for people that don't quite understand the difference between the two, with that being said Ms. Farishta would ask us to perform Certain things and would not allow us to proceed on oths therefore causing delays in her project. The project was due for Completion on May 20th unfortunately due to the fact that Ms.Farishta requested that we be removed from the premisses according to management for threatening her though she was not at home at the time and being informed that final payment would be due upon completion on that day and should be in form of a certified check. Ms.Farishta Purchased her own Cabinets we served as mediators for her and insured proper delivery, we asked to be a part of the purchase so that to insure all was delivered accordingly and so that we may dispute any items not properly delivered as Ms. Farishta would not always be ready and available due to work in NYC. Concerns should be taken up with the Selling Company for which she has been provided a receipt for. Ms.Farishta requested that Kava M Corp serve as mediators for her in the purchase of the Kitchen countertop Kava M Corp pursued and made payment for such item and requested reimbursement for the Countertop for which Ms.Farishta did indeed reimburse Kava-M Corp for and for which the client was provided a receipt for, shortly there after Ms. Farishta informed Kava-M Corp that her husband had been laid of work and requested that we assist her in obtaining some type of discount on her countertop at which point we determined the best cause of action would be to cancel the order and provide continued service through a local wholesaler and informed Ms. Farishta that the Templators would be coming out on on May the 17th of 2019, Templators showed up to their appointment at 1412 Harmon cove towers Ms. Farishtas Home and provided such labor as per Kava M Corp for the Clients Countertop. After being informed that we were being asked to leave the property with only touch up s left and NON-PAYMENT Kava-M Corp has withheld the monies paid for such Countertop order until payment for work performed has been paid in full It is obvious to Kava-M Corp that Ms. Farishta and her Husband William Comas had no intentions of Finalizing Payment When we can and if we can come to some type of agreement either through Arbitration or Mediation the amount withheld shall be deducted from final payment on the work completed

    Considered for Bathroom Remodel

Tile work in shower is not flat and smooth, has uneven spacing in grout, and two colors of grout. I was told it was too difficult to work with the tile I chose, and that they had re-tiled 3 times. I have seen many photos of same tile used on shower walls with no issues - and if was going to be an issue, say up front, early on in the process. Not 6 weeks later, and then suggest I should be charged more for the extra work. I basically need to redo the tiling. I'm giving two stars because the floor looks good. And was otherwise courteous and professional to deal with.

Client was provided with a discount for which she agreed on upon making final payment and a 1 year Guarantee on all la or for which she expressed she would rather take the discount than the Guarantee although both were provided to her and for which Client has not expressed any interest in utilizing. Although we strive to Make all of our clients happy at times there will be those whom no matter how hard we try are never satisfied and we do express our apologies to those whom believe the work provided is not up to par even after being offered and given solutions on the spot

    Water Damage Restoration project

My laundry/utility room and bathroom had to be completely redone due to.a sewer back. The repair included putting up sheet rock half way up all walls; painting both rooms and the hallway; installing indoor/outdoor carpeting; installing tile in the bathroom and a new sink and toilet; and installing door frames and baseboards. There were some slight delays due what I ordered not being readily available. Throughout the process Mr. Cruz kept me up-to-date on each phase of the project. It was a pleasure to work with him and his crew.

We did not use this company but he was very knowledgeable and it was strictly a timing issue of why we went with another company.
