By Lisa W.July 14, 2023Update electric for new hot tub$400Read more
DO NOT USE!!!! I recently purchased a new hot tub. The store indicated we need needed to switch out the electric from our old hot tub to be compatible with our new system. When I asked about electricians they said Affordable Electric has done a good job for another customer recently and we’re lower priced than other electricians in the area. It should have been an easy job since we already had a hot tub but the experience was a nightmare! There were 3 different errors on the job, the biggest of which was that they placed the new breaker box literally within arms reach of the hot tub. When the store came back to set up they said they could not do so because it was a safety issue. The store called the electrician and explained all of the issues, stressing that legally the code states a breaker box needs to be 5 feet from the hot tub. Adam from Affordable Electric complained about coming back to fix it because he had “bid” the job but fortunately store owner insisted the need for it to be completed correctly. They came back the next day while I was at work. When I got home I found 2 items had been corrected but that the new breaker box was still only 3 feet away instead of the required 5 feet. WHAT!!!! I messaged Adam immediately to express my concern. His response was “the one I moved is perfectly fine been doing this for 25 years I corrected just like we spoke you can not reach the box from that spa”. He did not correct as we spoke! I was sitting next to the store owner when he told him it legally had to be 5 feet away due to code. I again stressed that it was not the required 5 feet away.. He stopped responding to my text messages and clearly has no intention to fix it. I will be reporting him to the city for violating code and refusing to correct it. I should have realized this company was sketchy. I guess this is what happens when you try to save a little money. It was not worth it at all! I would have rather paid a few extra hundred dollars than deal with the stress and anxiety this has caused. I should have realized they were not on the up and up when they did not have us fill out any paperwork or sign anything. When we talked about payment he also indicated he preferred cash for small jobs. I ended up writing a check which he had me write to him personally rather than the company. Made the mistake of giving it to him before the job was done. I obviously dont know this for sure, but im guessing this job was done off the books so they don’t have to pay taxes on it. Completely sketchy! Sorry for the very long review but I have never experienced anything like this before. BEWARE!

By Jerry H.August 14, 2022rewire damaged rooms and update wiring.$6,200
Seems to be a pattern. They showed up and did about 80% of the work. They were paid in full but quit showing up. I had to hire another electrician to finish the work. They also refuse to provide an itemized bill so we can't get reimbursed for Nationwide, They are crooks.

By Jerry H.August 14, 2022rewire damaged rooms and update rest of home.$6,200
Paid them $6200 in three checks as work was progressing. With work about 80% done they quit showing up. 2 months with no contact i drove to Joseph Kawtoskis home. His wife got him on the phone and I practically begged him to at least do enough for an inspection. He did(1/2 hrs work) but inspection failed. I had to hire another electrician to finish. They refuse to provide itemized bill so we can get reimbursed from Nationwide. Guess they are avoiding paying taxes. These guys are crooks.

I called them with an emergency call today, Sept. 20, 2018. My brother is using an oxygen machine, the circuit breaker continued to blow. the son was there in less than one-half hour, corrected the problem. will have them back to check the whole house since it is old. A note, I bought this property through Perry Wellington Properties, I called my agent (as I live in Virginia) asking for a name to call. She gave me Affordable Electric. Definitely affordable. Will call again, caring, helping team. Judy Flynn, Fredericksburg, Va.

Kawtoski Electric (The owner Joe Kawtoski opened another company called Affordable Electric and Construction) owned and operated by Joe Kawtoski and his son Adam Kawtoski bid for both Electrical and Construction work on my 8 Unit apartment building and both of them are not completed. He received all the money (About $70,000 and did not complete both Electric and Construction work he promised to finish.. After taking all the money he did not show up for last 3 months. When I call them, the call goes to Voice Mail and the contractors never respond.

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I paid him and his father $9,000. They never finished the job. I had to hire another electrician who advised that most of the work done was done wrong. I would never recommend that anyone hire him.
