The bad reviews are probably true and I should have read them before hiring Marvin. We accidentally doubled paid him and requested him to send back one of the payments. He didn't and ended up just keeping it.. Just wanted to let people know before they thinking of hiring Marvin.

Horrible! Came out promptly, gave a competitive quote, then stood us up on the scheduled day due to a vehicle accident.
Told us they were leaving the shop on the 2nd scheduled day to do the work, and never showed up or called or communicated in any way.
Have called numerous times and they will not answer!
Horrible business practices!

My experience with Marvin and Collins Electric was amazing. The work was performed in a timely manner and neat. I absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a affordable electrician.

I would like to amend my previous review. Due to much miscommunication and missed opportunities we were able to get resolution. He did the work and is completed. I would like to add that I would you his services again.

This guy is the worse. Will not complete work. Will lie about scheduling, he was on a cruise and could not receive messages. We will be pursuing a small claims case and reporting to TDLR. Probably the most unprofessional person I've dealt with.

MARVIN COLLINS
He is a FRAUD. He is a THIEF!!
Contracted him for electrical works and he took all the money of $1100 and would not give receipt, and did NOTHING.
This has gone on for more than 2 weeks now.
HE DOES NOT HAVE A LICENSE TO PERFORM ELECTRICAL WORKS.
Has a very bad ATTITUDE problem and complains to other workers all the time.
STAY AWAY FROM MARVIN COLLINS at all costs unless you want a thief and a counterfeit.
Both are very dangerous. If anyone else has had bad experiences please write about them here.

Well, one star only because negative stars is not an option. Called to scheduled an on-site quote at my house. We agreed on 5:30 that same day, it's 3 days later, he hasn't shown up, hasn't called, I tried calling and no answer. Good thing it was just for an estimate because Electric Man and Electrico companies in Dallas are far far superior and reliable. Good luck with your business model Marvin.

My experience with Collins Electric was wonderful. I gave the materials deposit and the work was completed the next day. I found that some customers want contractors to cut corners. He stood firm and did things up to code.

Marvin Collins d/b/a Collins Electric has an expired electrical license as of 6/24/2017. Marvin Collins d/b/a Collins Electric has a history of taking material draws and not showing up to complete the work. He took a $1,500 material check and never showed back up to the job.
Do your research before hiring Marvin Collins d/b/a Collins Electric and whatever you do, don't pay him for any work until it is completed and inspected by the city!
If he has scammed you, call the police department in the city that the theft occurred and then file a complaint with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

I read Tim's negative feedback after hiring Marvin Jr to do my commercial work. He was extremely polite and seemed to be good to work with. Well, after giving him a material's check, and setting an 8:15am appointment the following morning, he never showed. I called, emailed, texted, to no response. This is how I ran across the previous comment by looking him up by his TECL # which might be his dads. So that afternoon he finally calls and says he was hung up on another job. Well, I understand that, but a call to let me know would have been the correct thing to do. So we set up another 8:15am show up time for the following day. He said I was the only thing that day so he would be there. 9am, 10am, 11am all go by without any word again. Finally, he calls and sends someone else out who was there 4.5 hours before he had to leave. The work was to be completed that following day. The worker even called me because he couldn't get a hold of Marvin. He hasn't been paid for his work, nor did anyone show up. Marvin calls late that night apologizing again saying it would be done on Sunday. Sunday came and went without any communication from him and that was it, I fired him. Now I'm trying to get my money back, which was supposed to be delivered last night. After not getting my check, I texted him and said I was about to get nasty. He calls and says there's no reason to, he worked late and it would be today. I don't believe it. I don't recommend Marvin Collins Jr and or Collins electric for any electrical work

I had the same issue as you guys. Showed up late everytime he was scheduled and blamed it on a fender bender, sometimes he didnt even show up. He would also not communicate with me at all through the whole project. Stole a bunch of copper wiring from my clients building and never really completed any work. He is very polite in person but dont let that fool you. He is very untrustworthy. I eneded up kicking him off the job half way through he was so bad. Left messes everywhere he worked. Marvin if you see this you need to get your shit together.
