Having a house built by Kevin Higdon has been the worst experience of my life!! I wish I would have never met this man. Kevin told us what the base price of our home would be and then several months had went by and he then dramatically increased the price of our house. We didn’t realize it until later and then he had no real reason for why he did that. We used the architect he recommended, this individual didn’t do very much work and charged us thousands of dollars, plus we were not able to get the rights to our plan. We never met Kevin or any member of his staff in a professional setting, most times he would just want to meet us at a random job site. I’m not even sure if he actually has a real office. Kevin never did provide a detailed specification sheet, which seemed to be helpful to him so if we thought something should have been included he would tell us no. He charged us for something that was on the plan, but he said that was not included in the price of the house.
When we received our house is was very dirty, it seemed like all the housekeepers had done was vacuum the floor. There was urine on the floor in front of several toilets and the toilets rims in several bathrooms. There was also pub.. hair on several of the toilets!!!! This was absolutely disgusting. We had brought it up with the supervisor and he didn’t seem phased by it and didn’t do anything about it.
The guttering doesn’t seem like it was installed correctly. It is very loud when it rains and we hear dripping for hours after the rain has stopped. We have had problems with leaking, condensation, and moisture in our basement. We also have had a roof leak.
Kevin didn’t include standard things such as towel and toilet paper holders or the doorbell or front door handle. I’m sickened by the fact that my old 15+ home was more durable and reliable home than the home that Kevin built for us. I would never use him again or tell anyone to use him.
