    Kidd Fireplace installed a gas insert fireplace in our older Oakland home almost two years ago.
    It was a larger model, and I can't tell how nice it is to push a remote button and get a warm fire.

    Jason and the guys from Kidd were great. They were always professional, prompt, and detail oriented.
    Everything went according to plan, and the cost was reasonable.
    They handled the permits, the gas line rerouting, and everything else. Great teamwork.

    We were prompted to install a gas insert because our 104 year old house has loose mortar in the chimney and firebox.
    This caused poor drafting, fumes, and a safety hazard. Repair costs were high, and permits tenuous because cities want them gone.
    Current code trends are toward outlawing wood burning fireplaces entirely, and spare-the-air days make them legally unusable.

    So installing a gas insert with its own vent pipes in the chimney was a great solution that we should have done years ago.
    My beagle occasionally wakes up and nudges his bed further away from the fire, but that's the only complaint.
