Anthony M. King
I would steer clear and hire a different contractor. This is my honest review of Kings Decorative. The short version: quality and experience were below average. The first slab was so poorly done it had to be demolished and re-poured. The 66-day ordeal required me to micromanage and fight for fixes, left me with damages and poor step work, and was absolutely not worth it.
Day 1: Two unidentified workers began demo. Anthony (owner) arrived briefly, then disappeared until pour day — when the truck was already in my driveway. Prep mistakes included footers in wrong spots, step forms over a footer, and property damage (door trim, driveway indents, sump pump seal). He credited some damage, but not the driveway.
First pour disaster: Late truck/pump on a hot day, only a 3-man inexperienced crew. Slab dried too fast, producing one of the worst pours I’ve seen. Pros said it needed demo (“hot load, too dry”). Anthony disagreed, suggested an overlay; manufacturer confirmed overlay wouldn’t fix it. Only after pressure did he agree to demo.
Demo: No dump truck — 544 sq ft of broken slab sat in my yard for 5 days by a busy sidewalk. Steps meant to remain were chipped; chunks of concrete buried in new prep.
Second pour: Different supplier and some new crew. Smoother process, cleaner joints, driveway cleaned, fence post fixed. Lawn repair was bare-minimum despite a $2K quote. Patio was colored/sealed and looked visually decent — maybe 80/100 — but edges thin, steps still damaged, and patchwork abysmal.
Billing: Final bill charged $900 for a pump I paid for on the first pour but wasn’t used on the second. Refund refused. Also threatened with a $1,875 bill for cheap seed/straw blankets.
No ill will toward Anthony personally, but I paid premium money for an average result, weeks of stress, property damage, and false charges. Not worth it.
