    Kitchen Remodel
    $100,000

The President of Shoddy Kitchen and Bath, Sara Bovee Hines, doesn't respond to customer emails. Let me share the details, so you don't get stuck in a similar situation...
I paid over $100,000 for a kitchen remodel that has crown molding up to the ceiling. What I got was a crown molding almost up to the ceiling with gaps and damage to my front yard. Kitchen and Bath World cuts corners on craftsmanship and refuses to make proper repairs. Read the other people's negative reviews, and you will see that their complaints were also dismissed with being false or inaccurate and that the faulty craftsmanship was actually a beautiful and successful installation and anything defective was blamed on "HUMIDITY." I wish I has read these reviews before I hired them.

    1. Caulk that falls out after 3 months: Kitchen remodel was completed on 11/15/2020. Now, on 1/19/2020 the caulk that covered the gap between the ceiling and the triple crown molding on the cabinets, has shrunk and separated from the ceiling and trim. When the molding was installed, a small gap remained, and instead of leveling the ceiling in the space that needed it, Kitchen and Bath World filled it with caulk. At the time, I voiced my concern that the caulk would shrink, but KBW assured us that IT WOULD NOT because they are professionals and knew what they were doing. On 1/19/2020 I sent an email and pictures to the designer Iliana Schoenbaum, and the president of KBW, Sara Bovee Hines requesting a proper repair to level the ceiling to close the gap. Iliana responded, "The seasonal caulking crack is an inescapable phenomenon in cold climates where your house is located. When wood expand and contract the caulk would eventually crack too." SOUND FAMILIAR? A cut and paste response to dismiss and cover up faulty craftsmanship.

WHO CAULKS THEIR NINE FEET TALL CEILING W/ CROWN MOLDING EVERY YEAR? It's unheard of!

    2. Front yard damage: On 10/30/2020 a KBW employee parked a large company van parked on the dirt in the front yard. Due to the rain, the van got stuck in the dirt for 45 minutes, creating huge trenches along where the tires spun. On 12/20 I emailed Iliana and Sara. Iliana responded by saying that the yard was already a mess when the KBW guy parked his van there. So, basically, it's ok that KBW damaged it!

In response to Iliana's accusations of the yard being a mess, I emailed her back again and told her that 2 weeks prior to the damage, on 10/15/2020, the yard was FULLY REPAIRED AND LEVELLED. I have pictures, videos and a statement from the company that carried out the yard repair, which has been dismissed.

***ONLY NOW SARA BOVEE HINES REPLIES*** NOW FOR THE TRUTH***
I paid a DOWN PAYMENT of $33,000 at the time the contract was signed. My BANK REJECTED KBW's payment schedule. As this company deals with banks daily, KBW should be used to working with the bank on this as they GUARANTEE payment. ILIANA encouraged us to get cameras inside the house during construction and even ASKED FOR ACCESS to the camera stream so she could monitor the crew's progress. I watched patiently as JUSTIN repeatedly told the crew that we were RIPPED OFF and had OVERPAID. I watched patiently as JUSTIN complained about ILIANA and how "she didn't know what she was doing." I watched patiently as JUSTIN stood on top of the brand new granite counter with his boots to install a light fixture. I was patient when JUSTIN left an ELECTRICAL VIOLATION in the ceiling and covered it up (my plumber caught it and fixed it). I was patient when the disorganized JUSTIN put up the drywall BEFORE the heating chase was installed. One day, JUSTIN was preparing to paint the wall with the camera. He popped off the camera and threw it to the floor and then wacked it as he opened an exterior door. THEN I HAD ENOUGH and turned on the audio to tell him to pick up the camera from behind the door. ONLY ONCE.
I called ILIANA and told her that JUSTIN was no longer allowed in my house, and not the other way around. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH ANY OTHER CONTRACTORS.

TO KBW AND SARA HINES: Lies will never overtake TRUTH. KBW has been around for 38 years, but the days of good craftsmanship and customer service are long gone, evidenced by OLD reviews from 2 years ago or more!

We have had two remodels of our bathrooms (upstairs and down) and have been very pleased with their work. We started with their design, which helped us choose the components and then relied on their craftsmen to accomplish the desired effect. They took great patience in doing the small finishing work and went further to add small details which accented the design (especially with the wainscoting).
The downstairs remodel was the result of a water damage problem and after settling with the insurance company we relied upon Kitchen and Bath World to transform our gutted bathroom into a finely finished bathroom.
We added heated floors in each and are very pleased with the added warmth to the tile floor.
We are now considering doing a Kitchen remodel, which will entail removing a wall and reconfiguring cabinetry.
