  Daryl takes pride in his work, he is dependable and is a great communicator. Our contract was very detailed and we knew when we were going over budget. We went over our budget several times and Daryl covered our cost until the job was done. Very generous and easy to work with.

  I agree with Susan - get it in writing - but that is easier said than done with Daryl. Daryl was recommended to us by a friend. My 82 year old in-laws were struggling with paying health cost and living expenses. We asked Daryl if he would price out a house that was a ranch with an in-law apartment. We gave Daryl at price range, a needed move in date, and floor plan idea. We first talked with Daryl in May of 2015 and he wasn't able to provide a price until August of 2015. In the meantime my in-laws had to sign another lease they could not afford and we lost thousands of dollars as the subcontractor costs skyrocketed with the home building market recovery. This was an endless loop of frustration. We would tell him what we could afford, what the house needed to look like, and when we needed to have it done by - he would say no problem and then bring us a pencil drawn plan that did not resemble what we had asked for, with an uncertain price, with a time frame of "sometime soon". First he couldn't get sub costs because he didn't draw the basement, then he didn't draw the elevation, then he couldn't get a sub cost because his digital plan person "was on the out's with his wife and couldn't get it drawn". We actually hired someone else to draw the plan so that he could get the sub costs and actually price out the house because that was his excuse. Sometimes he would even come over for a scheduled appointment without even a pencil. Our experience ended with Daryl when he said he finally had a price and plan that was $40K over our target, 4 months after our scheduled start date, and with a plan that didn't reflect what we asked for - wasted time, wasted money and he believed we owed him money for his time and a plan that took him months to provide. We finally parted ways and sent out 6 emails to 6 different builders, 2 builders said they could do the house within our budget, one of those builders provided a contract that we signed and had the plan ready in two days, and 15 days later the shovels were in the ground. We could have saved thousands of dollars, months of frustration, and so much heartache for our elderly parents had we never spoke with Daryl Kooiker.

  Daryl was wonderful he built our dream home for half the price of the big time builder. The results were incredible! Even our inspector said, "your builder did it right". He spent countless hours with his clients to make sure they get what they want.
