Hired to do 2 bathroom modifications, they did one and skipped out on the 2nd one, after telling me for 3 months they were doing it. Actually it was a blessing in disguise, as the first project was a disaster.. needed new toilet, door widened and grab bars installed. Nothing was correct except the grab bars. Damaged my wall then denied it. Wrong toilet and it wobbles still. Tiled floor was uneven and grouting left behind. Do not use them....
Response from Kova Construction, LLC December 22, 2023Hello Mrs. Beck, We want to start off by saying thank you for choosing us for your modification and we hope it is still functional for you. Unfortunately, we would like to clarify a few things with this review. Mrs. Beck has all right to feel the way she does and can express this feeling how she would like. We were awarded this modification and we agreed to do the second bathroom for this client as well as a private pay job. We as state contractors have to work directly from specifications from the state. We cannot deviate in any form without proper authorization from the state. All items that were installed in this modification were installed by our licensed professionals and passed our state inspection. As for the damage above the door was present before the modification begun. We have to take Indepth documentation before any project can start to note all damages before work is started. These are modifications and not remodels and we work directly from spec. The damage above the door was not on the scope of work to fix or we would have been more than happy to fix this. Mrs. Beck knew this and stated she would take care of this damage, but changed her view after the project was completed. We are strictly bound by the specifications from the state. As for the second bathroom for this client, we had to back out unfortunately because Mrs. Beck wanted to change the original scope of work we agreed on because she stated "we were paid for the other bathroom from the state we should be able to install the higher priced items for no extra charge." As a company we could not do this and had to decline this project. We hope this sheds another prospective on this project and hope nothing but the best for Mrs. Beck and her family. Thank you Teia -
By Victoria S.January 4, 2023Bathroom Renovation for Handicapped
I recently had a roll in shower installed by Kova Construction and it's already a disaster! I heard rushing water leak under shower base and called them to get help! They sent a young guy to inspect and he went back to the truck to call the owner Teia Gray. When he came back he said we aren't responsible for that leak. You'll have to call a plumber. The night before I had a plumber looking for where the water was coming from. He had to remove bead board and check to see what the problem was! The last thing I expected to hear was that they weren't responsible! The leak is in a supply line to get water to the shower! My son is disabled and his Medicaid paid for this renovation! These people are crooks and use plausible deniability to keep from making repairs. We were supposed to have one year of warranty! They removed copper plumbing and installed a two inch drain for this shower stall. They contend they didn't install the pex tubing but they did! NEVER use this company!!! I'm regretting our choosing them!! Going to call the State of Indiana to file a complaint!

Horrible they screwed up my bathroom and my backdoor. The owner is very unprofessional and rude they shouldn't be in business and I shouldn't be around me anything at all.
Response from Kova Construction, LLC January 6, 2024Hello Mrs. Ruston, We are sorry you have felt the need to write such a poor review on this platform and a few others. We would like to just say that Mrs. & Mr. Ruston have every right to express how they feel in any way they see fit, but we would like to shed some light on this situation as well. Kova Construction are state contractors that have been in business for 25+ years, helping the aging and disability community. This year we have done over 400 projects for the state with very high satisfaction rate. Unfortunately, for this project we had to pull our crews out and the state closed this project out for us for the following reasons we will list below. Mr. Ruston threated our Crew Lead Brandon and his crew with weapons in the house, after this they locked our crews out of their home with all materials and tools left inside. We immediately contacted the police and the state to see how to proceed. We were directed to upload all of our documentation to the state and all labor and materials we had in this project. The state ended us closing this project out for us so we could move on to helping the several other clients we service. To address the part of the review where Mrs. Ruston stated our crews were relieving themselves down a hole/drain is simply untrue. Never in all our years have we heard of any crew member from any company ever doing something like this. As for the pvc glue not being used, all the plumbing was “rough fitted” in until the inspector from the state gave us an approval to move forward. Before this could happen the Ruston’s threated the state and the case management company to the extent that they would not come back out to the property. This was the same timing they threaten and locked our crews out to where we could not enter the property to finish the modification. Being state contractors, we work directly from specifications, and we cannot deviate from them without authorization from the state. To address the toilet being close to the wall, we put all items in that bathroom project that were specified directly from the state. This included placement of items and how far items are from walls or other fixtures. Unfortunately, it was not as simple as moving the toilet. We have to complete the project to the specifications and then get authorization form the state to move any item. We tried to convey this to the Ruston’s, but it fell on deaf ears. We were informed that due to the extent of threats the Ruston’s felt the need to express to us and the state they we dropped from all benefits from the state. This is not what we wanted to happen and hope you are able to get these reinstated. We feel that this client has come after us with these reviews because of the action of the state and this would be out of our hands. We strive to provide the best service for the clients in this industry and again reiterated we can only do what is on the specifications and all our crew members are licensed in their professional fields of work. Thank you Teia -

They laid a new sub floor . Did not get it level . Had to shim cabinets and tub to make them sit level . Installed an exterior door that won't stay shut and when we mentioned these things the owner called us all kinds of filthy names and abandoned the job
Response from Kova Construction, LLC December 22, 2023Good morning, Unfortunately, this is the husband of Kathleen R. and was the individual that threaten our crews with weapons in the home. Mr. Ruston also had a bathroom modification completed as well for his needs. The contractor that completed this project would not come back to their property for similar reasons. As for the exterior back door that was replaced, Mr. Ruston slammed the door on multiple occasions while we were there rapidly, when we confronted him about this, could be the reason for the door not properly shutting, he started yelling at our Crew lead asking if we were calling him a liar. We do apologies if that is how he felt and was not our intentions. But mobile home doors are not as structurally sound as single family home exterior doors. We just wanted to caution him that this could be why. Our company has done over 400 projects this year for the state, and the state has very strict guidelines when it comes to these modification for the aging and disability community. We strive on respect, and satisfaction of every client. Thank you Teia

Came in my house very aggressive accusing me of texting her 5xs on her day off when it was ONCE then when I told her I didn't like the way she was talking to me she said she didn't like the way I talked to her guys (Infront of her guys). I said I have not said one crappy thing to your guys, they didn't say a word. She did not like my complaints of damaged shower wall, scratched light and scratched shower floor, and vanity, cabinet & light NOT BEING CENTERED so she walked in my house being all aggressive in how she handled the situation. Told me it's a state funded remodification not a remodel. Yet still got paid $19k for that remodification. I’m now thinking she buys scratch & dent products. She basically threatened to put in a smaller light w a junction box that I wouldn't like if they centered the cabinet. On the phone she said it could b moved no problem. Tried say it was only 1/8 inch not an inch, which it was 1/8 in off over the sink BUT it was AN INCH Off under light fixture. She told me the shower wall stains wouldn't affect my father's showers any, which felt very belittling. She said there's only 2 stains, when I pointed to the other stains she kept saying she didn't see them.
Then to top it off all this got so loud My husband came to ask us to tone it down. My 84yo dad was in the next room & was disturbed by all the aggressive loud debate. SHE GOT LOUD 1st talking OVER me and AT me saying things untrue about the 5 texts and talking rude to her men, so in my opinion this case she was AGGRESSIVE, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE & LIED about the texts & me being hateful to her men to a customer in my house.
Then I told her to just leave the cabinet off center & l'll deal with it or have someone else move it, she told her guys go get her a razor blade and she sliced down the side of the cabinet thru the caulking AFTER I told her not to! Then she had the screwdriver inside ready to unscrew the cabinet while I was telling her to STOP unless she was going to explain what it was gonna look like & what exactly she was doing! I finally had to put my hand infront of her telling her to STOP & just get out of my house at this point! They all left!
I'm not sure if one of the guys told Teia I was crappy or she pulled that one outta her hat since she was on a roll & didn’t like me telling her I didn’t like the way she was talking to me. The guys got respect from me & I never ONCE talked crappy to them! Someone’s lieing there!
