When my wife and I located the subdivision that we wanted to build our dream home in and realized that the builder that owned the lot was Kurk Homes we were extremely excited to have them build our home based on their reputation, warranty and quality they represented. My wife and I can honestly say they never disappointed us. Their advertisement is spot on when they state that "at Kurk Homes it is all about you". Chris and Melanie and their entire staff was always extremely helpful and answered each and every question my wife and I had. Through the entire process of finalizing the home plans, starting construction and helping us manage each and every detail we wanted in the home their construction superintendent - Oscar Macal, Melanie and Chris were always there to answer questions and provide recommendations and support. Kurk Homes does builds a quality product and the finished home is exactly what we had envisioned. My wife and I couldn't be happier.

We cannot say enough about our experience with Kurk Homes. From working with Ryan in the beginning stages to Drew (design), Lisa (exteriors), Jeffrey (interiors), and ultimately Kyle (contractor), we had such a wonderful experience. Everyone went above and beyond, but especially our contractor Kyle. Though we built outside of a small town away from civilization, Kyle was at our house location more days than not and gave us all of the attention we needed. A text or phone call was always answered quickly and our weekly email update was the highlight of our week. Even when there were delays due to supply chain issues, we were kept informed and encouraged through the whole process. And when there was an issue with our rental house and had to move out quicker than expected, Kyle pulled out all the stops to help us move into our beautiful new home in time.

When we were looking for a custom home builder, we searched for a Southern Living Home certified builder for our SL floor plan. Kurk was one of the few SL certified builders around and they didn't disappoint with their high quality work and standards. Their standards for structure, energy efficiency (Energy Star certified), cabinetry, crown molding and large baseboards, granite, tile, plumbing fixtures, etc were outstanding and considered upgrades with most other builders.

In short, we are very pleased with our new home built by Kurk Homes and would certainly recommend giving them a chance to build your custom home.

Kurk homes took our sketch of a dream to our dream home. From our first encounter with Paul we appreciated his honestly and quick communication style. The sales process can feel very pushy. He never pressured us and explained things very clearly. Steven then took what we articulated and sketched up and created a beautiful design for us. We have heard many horror stories about construction, but we were absolutely blessed when it came to Lorenzo. He is an amazing communicator with great attention to detail. Building can be incredibly stressful, but from setting our expectations during each phase and answering our many questions, we always felt confident that our build was in the best hands. Kurk homes is a great builder filled with great people who genuinely care how your home comes together from the tiniest nail to the finished product. You can see they truly love to build quality homes.

We recently moved to our completed custom home built in Bender Landing by Kurk Homes. My wife and I are really pleased with the overall quality of our custom home. The building process was managed by Peter Langkamp, Kurk Homes Construction Manager in a professional manner. Even through the Covid Pandemic during 2020 which was a very tough time to build, Peter was able to guide the home construction with all of the crafts/contractors in a high quality, safe, timely and with great workmanship. He has an excellent knowledge of good building practices and local building codes. The follow-up with us during the construction process was superb. We would take frequent tours with Peter to ensure we were satisfied with the design and final finishes. Warranty issues during our first year have been taken care of promptly. Again, just an overall wonderful experience building our forever home with Kurk Homes.

In late 2020, we moved into a new house built by Kurk Homes. Ryan and Ben walked us through the whole process; and the end result was a beautiful and well-constructed home. There were zero weather-related issues during the February 2021 snow storm thanks to the construction design.

After months of researching those who build in the Texas hill country, we decided on Kurk Homes with the help of Paul in the New Braunfels office. One thing we observed from the start was the involvement and professionalism of co-owner, Chris McGinley. Along with other prospective clients, we were able meet him at one of his “Hard Hat Home Tours” where we saw the quality being built into that home.

After signing a contract, Lisa, the pre-construction coordinator, provided a written list of initial steps which was quite helpful. Once activity started at the site, the Construction Manager, Larry, emailed an update every weekend detailing that week’s progress. Upon Larry’s retirement, Lorenzo took the role of Construction Manager, and continued the updates. Someone was always available to answer questions and provide help in a timely manner. We saw Lorenzo overcome many challenges toward the end of the project, always with a smile (behind his mask!), a helpful solution, and willing support from Cole. It is obvious that the McGinley family has taken care to hire staff with an extremely positive attitude and high degree of competence.

We received the keys to our home two days ago, and it has turned out to be all that we hoped for.

We have had an excellent experience with Kurk Homes after purchasing our home in April 2020. Even with minor issues, they have scheduled someone to come fix them very quickly and have always been extremely nice whenever we contact them. I can tell they take great pride in their homes and it shows in the quality of the builds. We are so happy to have worked with Kurk Homes.

We researched homebuilders for six months before deciding on Kurk Homes. The repeated answer we got from past clients and referrals is that they “don’t take short cuts”. The 2 x 6 exterior wall studs is an example of not taking short cuts and after living in our home for a few months and noticing the HVAC efficiency, interior/exterior doors, trim work and electrical and plumbing installations we have to agree.

The Team of Chris, Mark, Lisa, Steven and Kim were easy to work with even through Kurk Home office moves and covid-19 issues.

Working with Kurk homes was effortless. The entire process was a pleasure. We had a budget that we needed to stay within. From the beginning working with Chris and Melanie, they continually came up with ideas that saved on the bottom line. Our new home turned out to be the “Dream Home” we imagined.
Kim at the design center was incredibly helpful. She, again, kept our budget in mind while presenting beautiful design ideas.
When things got rolling, Lisa was so prompt in getting all the permits and contracts in place.
Once the construction began Mark was awesome. He communicated with us
whenever it was necessary. Since our entire house was built, while we lived out of town, we looked so forward to weekly emails that most of the time included
pictures. Whenever he thought a small change would be an improvement, he ran the suggestion by us and happily made the change. Mark gave us a timeline for the house to be completed. Great thing was it was completed when he said.
We could not be happier with the entire Kurk Homes Team. I just don’t believe
there is a more patient, helpful and friendlier group of people. We are so thankful and will miss being in contact with them as we are now living in our Beautiful New Dream Home.

We met with several other builders before we sat down with Chris and Melanie at the Kurk model home. We were impressed with their character and integrity. They were very transparent about costs and made the process easy to understand unlike some of the other builders we had met. From plans to the design phase to the finished home it was an enjoyable experience as building a home should be. Ben, our builder, kept us informed weekly, resolved any concern or question we had and kept things going smoothly. We ended up with a home that reflects our own personal style because of the attention of the whole Kurk Homes team to the details we wanted. We made the right choice.

We are very happy with our home. The people at Kurk Homes are very friendly and very helpful at providing you information to help make decisions along the way. They were flexible about changes in the plans and make an extra effort to keep us happy with everything.

Kurk Homes was wonderful to work with from beginning to end. Buying land, designing our home, building process and moving in is all a stressful process but they explained everything step by step they gave us honest and realistic expectations and exceeded them. Our builder Peter was wonderful to work and we felt truly taken care of and that he cares about our home as if it were his own. After moving in Ben was our warranty contact, thankfully we only had to contact him a few times and he responded quickly and took care of us. Our microwave went out right after the warranty expired and Ben got us a new one and personally drove an hour to deliver it to us during all the quarantine time. I highly recommend Kurk Homes to anyone ready to build their dream home!

We began the process while living out of state. Ryan was a pleasure to work with and was able to satisfy all of our questions and concerns.

Steven skillfully turned our ideas into reality. We had some tight deadlines because of our construction loan and land contract, but Ryan and Steven were on top of everything to make sure our lender had everything they needed.

Our builder, Pete A. was a joy to work with throughout the build — he was always on top of the trades to ensure adherence to the schedule, and provided exceptional communication with us along the way. He regularly walked the site with us and fielded our questions and concerns, going out of his way to make sure we were happy with the process. He took the time to get to know us as a family and not just another owner. “Mr. Pete!” as our kids always excitedly called out when they saw him, truly built our dream home.

Throughout the build we also worked with Lisa for our exterior selections, Kim for our interior selections, Zack for punch list, along with Shelby and Tammy in the office. Everyone was always very helpful, friendly and great to work with.

If we had to do it again, we would choose Kurk Homes. Thank you Chris, Melanie and team for providing us with our dream home!

Building a home for your family can be a scary experience. From lending money to trusting that your builder will provide the quality and service that is sold to you but not always delivered. I can say Kurk Homes put my anxiety to rest and made our home amazing. They're understanding and work with you throughout the build process to make sure their end product is dream worthy. We have been in our home for 3 months and have a few warranty items. Zach came this week in regards to a convection/microwave ventilation issue. He communicated the night before, showed up on time as he said he would, removed the unit for the cabinet crew, left his number for me to call/text him when they were done so he could return, in which he did and then troubleshot the issues with me. He went above and beyond to try to figure out the issue. We will need a specialist come back to check out the unit, however, Zach also asked what other issue we have at the time and he noted them and let the Ben know the outstanding issues. He followed up with me the next day. Also Ben reached out to me. We are still in the process, but I know they will get it taken care of. Thanks team.

We have been in our Kurk home for a year now and had our "1 year checkup". I have been very impressed by Zach who has gone out of his way to make sure we were happy with some of our items. I haven't had this type of customer service lately with other companies. It makes a very impactful statement. Thanks Zach!

Unbelievable experience. I have built homes in the past, but this time it was actually joyous. Communication=110%. Quality =110% Staff...J, Kim, Eli, Melanie, Chris, front office= 150%....Can you tell im pleased. This is our one year anniversary...no surprises while we built...no surprise now! Thanks Eli...we loved seeing you...but nothing to report! Perfect final home in our lives....but we will tell anyone who wants to listen!

We have been through the building process four times and all with different builders. The thing I learned is: building a house is stressful and normally not a smooth process. It is just part of the business. You have so many variables to deal with; contractors, suppliers, construction managers, designers, architects, banks, government, weather etc. Things are bound to go wrong.

The one thing that really helps is an exceptional construction manager. If you can get one, it will make a world of difference. Unfortunately for us, we started our Kurk home with a construction manager that wasn't so great. That all changed when he left and we were able to finish our house with Eli. Eli is an exceptional construction manager. He went above and beyond to make things right and turn things around. He kept us informed at all times and made sure things were getting done. He did everything he could to make us happy and it worked.

In the end, we have a beautiful home that we love. Thanks again to Eli for all his hard work to make sure we had a good experience.

I also want to thank Chris, the president of Kurk Homes. He came through on several occasions to help us out. We do really appreciate his extra efforts.

This review concerns warranty follow-up by Lorenzo Pirritano, Assistant Mgr, Warranties Texas Hill Country. We contacted Lorenzo in Nov 2017 about possible settling issues, involving exterior porch columns, porch/patio ceiling cracks, and garage ceiling cracks, with our home built in 2013. Lorenzo scheduled an on-site meeting to assess the issues. Following his assessment, he scheduled a time convenient for us in Jan 2018 to return and make needed repairs himself. He arrived timely and did an excellent job with the repairs; all done very cheerfully and professionally. His communication skills, aptitude, and professionalism are top-notch. These attributes are what we've experienced and come to expect from Kurk Homes!

We just had Kurk Homes build a 4000 square-foot custom home on our lot, and as far as homebuilding goes, it went pretty smoothly! The home is stunning and we get compliments on it all the time, from both people who come over to visit as well as people who have just driven by and seen it. People constantly told us that building a home can be one of the toughest things on a marriage but I beg to differ! Aside from some minor hiccups along the way, they provided all of the assistance needed to help us make decisions that varied from engineering to interior and exterior design. We began the design process in late December 2016, the slab was poured in late May 2017, and we moved in late February 2018. Overall, approximately a one year process but we have the home of our dreams, and we even had a hurricane we had to deal with and work around. Our construction manager, Mark, was available for all of our questions and concerns, and did his best to keep this project on schedule. We worked with Kim for Interior design and she was awesome as well. I highly recommend these guys!

We have been in our new Kurk home for about a month, and I have to say we love it! Building a new custom home is not for the faint at heart and there's a lot more to this process than we ever could have imagined. However, everybody at Kurk Homes -- Chris, Melanie, J, Lisa, Mark, Shelby, Tammy, Eli -- were all extremely professional and they walked us through each step, made sure we understood what was happening, and then made sure that when issues did come up, they were taken care of. They not only built us an exceptional home, but they made us feel as though we were a part of their family during the process. They would call or email, make sure we were all right, see if we needed anything, if we had any questions. Nowadays, not all companies give you this personal attention, and I, for one, really appreciate them doing so.

I honestly do not intend to ever build or move again. I love my house that much! However, I would definitely recommend Kurk Homes to anyone who is wanting to build that custom dream home.

So glad we chose Kurk for our first home build. They made the process easy and guided us step by step. Our home is gorgeous and we were able to see the quality from prep to slab to frame to interior. Our GC, Ben was great and kept us informed and was always available.

Kurk Homes has been very easy to work with from start to finish. We have been in our home for one year now and just had our final cosmetic repairs completed. Eli was always very prompt in responding to our repair requests and scheduling service. He would then follow up with us to ensure we were happy with everything. Kurk Homes is very customer oriented and they will do whatever they can reasonably do to resolve issues. I have no complaints and would absolutely hire them again to build another house if we were to move. We love our house!

Kurk Homes has been very prompt about working off the “punch list” items. Eli Schlotte is our warranty manager. We have been very impressed with the fast response he gives to our warranty needs and the fact that he follows up until the job is done and done right. We are able to reach him by phone, text, and email. He always has a positive attitude and works toward solving the problem in the most efficient way. It’s nice to know that if things go wrong, Kurk Homes and Eli will be there to help.

We have just moved into our new Kurk Home on Lake Livingston. We are extremely happy with the design, quality, and workmanship which was put into the home by Kurk Home Builders. We were especially pleased with the assistance provided to design the house to meet our exact needs and desire to take maximum advantage of the great lake view. The construction took a bit longer than we would have hoped due to bad weather. Things began to move ahead more rapidly after we were assigned Mark McGinley as our building manager/supervisor. He scheduled work to be completed and kept us informed of the progress. He was very good at getting things done. Kurk Homes has been very prompt about working off the “punch list” items. I would highly recommend Kurk Homes to anyone wishing to build an attractive, solidly built, quality custom home.

We are very pleased with our beautiful home built by Kurk Homes. We have been in our home a little over 2 years now and it is very well built. We have been amazed that our electric bill has been lower in this much larger house than in our previous home! Chris and Melanie have always immediately responded to any issues we have faced. Most recently we have been provided excellent customer service by Eli from the warranty team in helping us to resolve an ongoing issue with the HVAC contractor. He went above and beyond to make sure that the issue was resolved. As mentioned in another review, our only complaint would be having to change constructon managers during our build, leading to a couple of bumps in the road related to that transition, which is why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars.

My wife Sharon and I had a very good experience overall with Kurk Homes building our new home. The house is very well built and we get many, many compliments on how beautiful the home is. We have been in the home since mid March and are very satisfied with our retirement dream home! I suppose if there are any complaints/draw backs to the whole building experience, it would be the replacement of two construction managers during the build. However, the final construction manager, Gene Surry was top notch!!! He stepped in and corrected some issues and got the build on the right track and done with the professionalism Kurk Homes strives to maintain. One thing that made it more aggravating than anything was being the very first Kurk Home built in Matagorda County slowed the building process somewhat due to the distance contractors had to travel to perform every aspect of the build. We love our home and we THANK Chris McGinnley and the Kurk Homes family for their thoughtful and warm condolences during the loss of our loved ones during the build. I want to also thank Kurk Homes for the outstanding donation to Matagorda County Cavalry to help us continue our mission of supporting our American Heroes!

We're new to the Houston area. I went to the builders association's web site with the hope of finding a reputable builder. I contacted five via e-mail. Not a single one got back to me. Kurk Homes was building a house in our neighborhood. Having a sign out front was a good thing. I called them and they got back to me right away. We needed a garage built. Not a big job. Gene & Chris were always available and that meant a lot. We now have a beautiful two car garage. Kurk Homes is professional, punctual, caring and they listen. We couldn't be more happy.

Highest grades for integrity, honesty, quality, customer service and reliability. Even higher points for the unsung heroes...Shelby Duncan, Tammy, Lisa, J.Barreda, Kim Provost, ...al who understand that the building experience goes beyond bricks and mortar. But I save the best for last...Gene Sury, and the teams of craftsmen he brings to the build, are incomparable in producing an amazing product. Most of all, Kurk homes protected our desire to stay on budget and maintain open communications from start to finish. Absolutely painless "forever home/aging in place" project. My home is perfect and breathtaking. Thank you Chris for surrounding yourself with capable employees who passed their talents on to us.

We experienced what I would say was unprecedented turnover in builders on our home and some early design confusion and if we were to go back to look closely at the problems we had can be contributed to having two builders that left Kurk and were not as committed to Kurk or us as you might expect, the third builder we had greatly improved the time it took to get the house ready, Ben with the support of Eli improved the closure of issues, they were important in how we rated Kurk Homes, the quality of the build is great it was just the frustration of going through a number of builders but as mentioned Ben and Eli helped so much to put the past behind us..

Thank you Kurk homes, and Eli, for taking care of our cabinet door. The part was out of warranty but you went the extra mile and took care of the problem. Thanks!

Kurk Homes built our home in 2012. They walked us through every step and we learned so much through the process. 4 years later we are still happy with our home and the service they provided during and after the build. Last week, we couldn't find a GFI reset switch. I knew it wasn't really a problem for Kurk Homes, but I called them to see if they had any advice. Eli, from warranty, took time out of his schedule and went out of his way to come and help us. I am embarrassed to say, he found it in minutes! Their quality, honesty and service speak for themselves and I highly recommend them.

From start to finish, we have really enjoyed our build with Kurk Homes! This was our first custom home and being able to work with one of their designers to being our home to life was amazing! Throughout the build, every question we had was answered and concerns were immediately addressed. We have our Dream home and could not be happier!
