This is a sick, dishonest and unprofessional guy. I have dealt with a lot of contractors and handymen of different trades, but Jose Torres is the worst of them. On December 21, 2016 I had a busted pipe in the basement of my house. I called him and he said he will come to fix it the next morning. I called and texted him in the morning and he replied about 5 hrs after that he is tied up at a job. He couldn't do it that day, so the next day, he sent me a text that he will be available to do the job and he will charge $100/hr with a minimum of 4hrs and $65/hr to close the wall. He came in the afternoon and I wrote him a check for $465 and gave him a key to the basement so that he can come to close the wall anytime. The pipe was fixed but he never came back to close the wall. I called and texted him several times and he hardly respond. I spoke with him on January 8, 2017 and he said he will come and do it the next day. I was tired of his attitude and lies, so I had someone else close the wall for me. I then sent him a text that he doesn't need to come to close the wall anymore. I asked him to return my key and the $65.00 I paid him to close the wall. He then sent me a text that I still owe him $135 because he spent 6 hrs on the job looking for leaks. I did not want to argue with him because my goal is to get my key from him. I knew he did not spend 6hrs there because I came back 4hrs after and he was not there. I told him to keep the $65 and drop off my key. I sent him several text and he did not respond. Today is January 26, 2017 (over a month from December 22nd) and I just came back from his house to collect my key. I know he was shocked to see me, but I googled his name to get his address. He has no regard for people's time and has no respect for his client. I'm glad that I don't have to deal with him anymore.
