We hired Glen LaCroix to remodel our home. He took our roof off and then left us exposed for over a week causing major water damage to our house and its contents. He refused to contact his insurance to repair the damage, insisting on cleaning up things himself. This resulted in a delay in getting the roof back on resulting in additional water damage. In the middle of the project, his assistant quit, telling us he was no longer being paid. Working alone, Glen made very slow progress and eventually we fired him. When we went to the state of Michigan licensing agency to file a complaint about him, we discovered that his license had been revolked after he started work on our house and he failed to inform us. We turned this information over to the county inspector who inturn turned it over to the sheriff's department for investigation. Since his license ws revolked, we know we were not his first victims but we hope to he his last. Bottom line, you have to keep checking during the life of your project to make sure your contractor is still licensed...
