Review for Laguna Finish Carpentry (Mario Williams)
I initially had a positive experience when I reached out to Mario from Laguna Finish Carpentry. He contacted me promptly after I posted a request for work, which involved stripping and staining three thresholds, along with some touch-up painting around the house. Mario was professional and courteous during our first meeting and he suggested painting my mantle black, which I agreed was a great idea.
Mario quickly sent an estimate and requested a 70% deposit, which I thought was a bit high but decided to go ahead with a 50% deposit. After some scheduling issues, we finally locked in a date for the job.
However, things took a turn once the work was completed. The thresholds, which I was expecting to be stripped, stained, and sealed, were instead painted, which was disappointing. The biggest issue, though, was with the mantle. After Mario claimed to be finished, I noticed multiple drips and streaks on the surface. He assured me that everything would look good once it dried, so I paid the remaining balance and he left quickly.
Later that night and the next day I noticed more flaws with the mantle—streaks and drips that were still noticeable. Worse yet, he didn’t complete one of the tasks that was included in the estimate. I reached out to Mario right away via text and phone, but he never responded. Both of my calls went straight to voicemail but his mailbox was full, and he hasn’t followed up since.
I had to spend my own time fixing the issues he left behind. Overall, I’m extremely dissatisfied with Mario’s work, communication, and professionalism. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Laguna Finish Carpentry, as my experience was frustrating and disappointing.
