I'm mostly writing the same review as I did on Angie's List, but I was originally connected with this contractor through Buildzoom; so I felt I should write one here too.
My project involved quite a lot, as part of a full remodel of the 2nd floor; creating a dormer, cut and frame in new windows, remove chimney, reframing interior, rebuilding a staircase, and more. It was also at a bit of a hectic time of the year (around the holidays and the start of the cold weather). I met with 10 general contractors for bids on this project, as I took this pretty seriously; and while bid price was always a factor I was just as concerned with responsiveness, professionalism, and quality of work. I dedicated a lot of time towards planning this project and I didn't want to cut corners.
That said, of the 10 contractors I met with Lakewood Builders came in first in the group. The responsiveness was easily the best of the bunch, as one of the only contractors that would quickly respond to nearly all questions/e-mails (within 24hours) and also answer the phone on calls. Always were on time for appointments, and very respectful, courteous, and patient. They also worked with me on meeting at inconvenient evening times/weekends, due to my long work hours. On top of all of that, the bid was competitive and within my expected budget.
More importantly though, this responsiveness and professionalism continued throughout the duration of the project. Only a couple of instances did I feel like I was waiting for a response a little longer than comfortable, but I realize it was a busy time of the year... and things overall were handled well.
The quality of work was also great, and everything came together as well as I could have hoped for. The project was also planned and executed very well, minimizing the amount of time my house was open to the elements and sealing things up properly to avoid any leaking/moisture infiltration whatsoever. The group also did a good job cleaning up after themselves, and went above and beyond to move some nicer stuff that could have been covered in/ruined by debris.
Overall, definitely deserve and earned a positive recommendation!

Permits

Job was a full bathroom remodel. Time frame to completion was estimated at 2 weeks. They showed up on time to do demo and were quick and kept everything neat and clean. Then we did not hear from them again for a few weeks. So many issues with the plumber that we were asked to find our own plumber and pay them independently. Then had issues with the tile not being installed as requested and had to order more tile to fix the job. Had further issues with the finish work and kept have to request them to come back to fix things. Baseboard under vanity was never fixed and now tub And surrounding tile has to be replaced due to not setting it properly on self leveling cement. Very unfortunate and upsetting.
