I hired Jay back in 2018 to build a house. It was awful. They treated myself and my mother terribly, installed the foundation each to the point there were half foot waves that had to be filled in, installed the wrong windows in the bathrooms, water pressure and heat didn’t work until the well completely broke and I had someone come out to fix the whole thing, the electricity is beyond shoddy, they installed indoor circuits outside, the doors didn’t actually close due to misalignment, the exterior doors have gaps under them, the breaker cuts off in the bedroom if two things (a clock and my laptop) are plugged in, $1,000 decorative beam miscut and they told me to ‘just use some wood filler and a pen. That should fix it’ without fixing it themselves, electricity in the guest bathroom didn’t work, none of the rooms are properly squared up, the ceiling are shorter than what we paid for, the kitchen and master bathroom sinks were improperly installed, and the well was misinstalled overall.
The contractor himself (Jay) and his staff were unprofessional and rude the entire time the house was being built. They were dismissive of any issues and even said “you should be grateful” when they purchased and installed the wrong windows. When Jay was talked to by myself about his behavior, he didn’t listen to anything and kept bragging about a multimillion dollar bid he had just gotten and completely ignored our concerns. If I could go back, I wouldn’t pay him a penny and go with someone who actually values the customer.

If I could give this builder zero stars I would! He doesn't deserve one star! He got his $42,000 start up money and we.didnt hear from him again until I contacted him 6 weeks later. He lied more times than I can count. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PERSON! We got most of our money back but the time we lost in the building process was devastating! It cost us more for everything due to the covid shortage of supplies. My advice is to run far and fast!

Imagine your dream home turning into a nightmare. This is what the called “builder”, Jay Culley (Landmark Fine Homes), will deliver. He has shown houses he didn’t build on his web site. Now we have pilings that are improperly installed and now must be removed according to 2 engineers. We also have a wood floor on top of pilings that is rotted from months of exposure. He delivered nothing correct and it took him only 1 ½ yrs!!! I am $140K in debt as Jay lied to the bank signing that work was complete, allowing him to take the draw from the bank right before we halted construction. We now have $140K dept. A $2,000 a month construction loan payment on interest and now nothing to show for it. We now must pay someone to remove the improperly constructed pilings and the floor, pay for new fill and compaction to make the lot buildable again, new engineering and permitting fees, and then rebuild to where the project was financed, not to mention increased cost in materials and valuable lost time. How this man is not in jail or still in business is amazing. Before you sign a contract with Jay imagine your wife in tears and the mental strain that his catastrophic projects will cause all your family members. What we have experienced is we now have a lean on our property from subcontractors who have not been paid and have heard that no one is willing to work with him for this reason. Avoid this man and company like the plague!
Also take note of the only 5 star review is actually from a previous supervisor, Steven Davis, who was the one who totally screwed up our project! What Frauds!!!! -

Imagine your dream home turning into a nightmare... This is what Jay Culley (Landmark Fine Homes) will deliver. I have pilings that are improperly installed and now must be removed. Wood that is rotted. I am 140K in debt as Jay lied to the bank, signing that work was complete, allowing him to steal the draw from the bank right before we halted construction. We now have 140K debt. A $2K monthly construction loan payment and less than nothing to show for it, as we now must pay someone to remove the improperly constructed pilings and floor, pay for new fill and compaction to make the lot buildable again, new engineering and permitting fees, and then rebuild to where the project was financed, not to mention increases in prices during the valuable time lost. How this man is not in jail, I do not know. Before you sign a contract with Jay, imagine your wife in tears and the mental strain that his catastrophic projects will cause to your family. He will show houses he didn't build on his website and have you talk to people at the one or two homes that made it to completion, but check with his subcontractors that seem to not get paid (watch for liens on your home also). Avoid this man and his businesses like the plague!
PS: Note that his 5 start comment is from One of his supervisors, Steven Davis, who totally screwed up my project! What Frauds!!!!!

Jay started a new house construction project for my mom. Got his first draw and abandoned the project. He cleared at least $70k at that point. Then my mom had to basically start from scratch and sink the amount he took back into the house to complete the house. He walked us into houses that he claimed he had built. He actually started the houses and didn't pay the subs,so he didn't actually finish the houses. He now works for DR Horton and is likely scamming people there or skimming money from that company and they don't know it. if you look at his business records on DPBR website, you can see he changes business names every few years to stay ahead of the bad press. I didn't know that until it was too late.
