ATTENTION ALL FUTURE HOME BUYERS IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE AND ALL OTHER STATES! I totally agree with the first review. Refurbished damaged goods were installed in our new home! My husband and I purchased a home in St. Augustine in 2017 from Landon Homes. Unbeknownst to us, two months after we signed the Purchase Agreement with the owner of the company, he left and started another company under a different name and other employees of Landon Homes kept the business running. What a mistake it was to buy from Landon Homes. We had and still have defects that should have never happened. The defects were due to incompetence because Landon did not care what type of product they produced as long as they were able to have someone buy and close on it. As long as the home sold that was all that mattered. A certificate of occupancy should never have been issued. Six days before our home warranty expired, we received a letter from Landon Homes stating the warranty repairs were going to be handled through a company they dealt with and from that point forward we were to deal with that company. We were also informed they were in the process of locking the doors and closing the business, however, to this day they are still open.

My advice to any prospective buyer of a home in Florida, Caveat Emptor, BUYER BEWARE! Before signing any purchase agreement for the purchase of a new home, my best advice is to have an attorney review the contract before signing a purchase agreement with the builder and giving a check as a deposit for the home to be built.

If you decide to proceed and purchase a home, you should find out every piece of information you can as to who owns the company and everyone involved with the company. In Florida you can search the corporate records through the Secretary of State Corporate Division. The website is:

    sunbiz.org/inquiry/corporationsearch/

and then select search by entity (corporate) name. I would recommend printing a copy of every public record you find and keep records of every document you sign, correspondence, emails, text messages, and records of the names of every individual in the company whom you speak to listing the outcome of the telephone conversation.

If you are unable to hire an attorney and proceed having the home built and the builder refuses to fix any problems caused by their incompetence, your next step should be contacting the State of Florida Attorney General’s Office, Department Of Business and Professional Regulation in Tallahassee and request information on filing a claim against the builder. This will cost you nothing and may result in some retribution to you. You do have to keep records of all correspondence, emails and notes of all calls with the builder’s office and attach copies of each document with your complaint. If you have neighbors who have problems with their homes, the more people that file a complaint, the better chance you will receive some form of retribution. If you do proceed having a home built, when you have your final walkthrough, DO NOT CLOSE OR HAND OVER MONEY FOR THE HOME UNTIL ALL ISSUES HAVE BEEN RESOLVED TO YOUR SATISFACTION. OTHERWISE, YOU WILL REGRET MAKING THE HOME PURCHASE.

Unfortunately in the State of Florida, builders can create a company under one name, keep it a few years and then open another company under a new name and it lists as a new builder. One thing to remember is when you see positive comments online regarding the builder, it usually is a realtor, mortgage broker or an employee of the builder who writes the post due to them making a sale and earning a fee. With regard to the question did we hire this PRO, yes we signed a contract with this company but definitely NOT A PRO!

This company is a joke. They build with the cheapest of the cheap when it comes to paints and fixtures. They say they have a Sherman Williams brand paint which rubs off everytime I rub against it. They front door paint comes off when the door is closed and re-opened as well.

They have Zero customer service and to me I was just another number in the pile. Build, get the job done, and who cares what the customer thinks; should be their slogan. Landon Homes told us one things and did another. When we ask to fix it we got the run around multiple times and its was more of a " we will get to it when we get to it". Can you believe they actually installed an item then after we loved it, they ripped it right out saying, sorry you didnt pay for it and we put it in by mistake. I mean how cheap is cheap? A multi million dollar company can't afford $200 to make someone happy when they make the mistake? Come on, really?

Well lets just say my first homebuying exprience was not good with this company and I DO NOT recommend giving them your business. I attempted to find them on the BBB website and they are not even listed.
