Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience, work was not finished despite numerous extensions, and we know think the contractor was absent for major parts, has not adequately supervised subcons and did not keep promises regarding timing made to us. Work that has been done was faulty and careless. After many months of delays and insufficient work, we had to hire other people to finish the project and repair damage Langton & Douglas had caused. Items from the original contract were not done, some of them we only found out after hiring a certified home inspector and they had caused safety problems: a crawlspace had not been insulated or protected from moisture as claimed, but instead construction debris and beer cans had been dumped in the area before it was covered with a new floor. Gaps and holes through the roofs and outside walls caused by the construction (e.g. for roof vents) had not been adequately resealed, leaving the construction at high risk of damage from the elements. Many items from the contract we had to insist on vehemently before they were addressed (e.g. an exhaust fan for a windowless BR which they had „forgotten“ about. Steve Langton‘s comment was that an exhaust fan in a BR was not necessary. When I said we needed it and that it had been specified in the contract, he only agreed after long and tough negotiations, only to place a fan we had never agreed on. In similar situations, he had agreed on doing or fixing things but they have never happened. An experience we will never have to go through again. We then worked with other builders on the project and - to us it was a difference like day and night: they were fast, reliable, friendly, reasonably priced and made a lot of the things Langton & Douglas declined on doing or said were not possible, happen in a timely manner. They even cleaned up after themselves.
