Lauber Construction accepted $8700 for down payment on a roof and water damage job. The home is owned by my 73 year old grandmother, with my 7 year old son and my self also living there. Lauber worked on the roof for a week, didn't complete it, then stalled the job. These delays kept my family out of our home and in a hotel for over two months.
The day the home was supposed to be habitable, they bait and switched a floor, there was no toilet, bathroom sink, plumbing to any bathrooms fixture, kitchen sink, plumbing to that sink, or cold water to the additional bathroom. Essentially, no work was done and what was done was wrong. There was only 36 hours until we had to leave the hotel and Lauber removed all their tools, materials, sign, lockbox for door key, and employees from the job. Then, they didn't answer the phone all day. When they did, they threatened a slander suit for us asking for community help on facebook, an effort to get back in our home.
I had to have new contractors come in and redo everything Lauber did incorrectly and complete what they did not do. It still took those contractors a week to get us in our home. However, they did in a week what Lauber failed to do in two months. Amazing what people can do when they show up and work.
The roof is still not complete and Lauber has failed to pay for the materials as well. So now, I have a materials company threatening a lien on my grandmothers home. They pocketed $8700 of our money and caused us drawn out distress. I hope you don't make the same mistake.
