    Addition and Kitchen remodel
    $300,000

Don’t use Lavan Construction unless you enjoy being threatened by your contractor.
    Specifics:
    1. Lavan doesn’t know the permit rules, even though they insist they do. We were told by Moein and Fahid that our cement landings MUST come up to our door, no step down. They told us, word for word, “trust us; we’re the professionals. We know.” When I saw a step-down landing at the new construction across the street and asked Moein to investigate, his answer was no! So my husband and I had to take off work to meet with the inspector. Everything Lavan told us was WRONG. And why did we have to meet with the inspector? Isn’t that the job of our contractor?
    2. Fahid would regularly yell at me for simple questions because he doesn’t speak good English and gets frustrated, so he yells. Yet once I swore in front of him (not At him), and then Lavan threatened to quit. They can yell at me but I can’t swear in front of them?
    3. Tried to double charged us for items like baseboards and moldings. Watch very carefully. Moein has no professional training in accounting, so they are very disorganized.
    4. We bought a very expensive vanity for our master bath and Lavan decided it was OK to cut off the legs without our permission, which totally changed the look. Their reason was because they wanted the cabinet to go right up to the shower stall glass, so we wouldn’t have to worry about seeing dirt there. But they’re so sloppy they installed the cabinet WITHOUT CLEANING IT, so now we have dirt to view from our shower forever!
    5. Aggressive and abusive when asking for checks: sometimes before we can even verify the work is completed, I would get multiple calls while at work. Moein won't reply to emails or texts for 1-2 weeks, but if he wants a check, look out, because he will aggressively call you multiple times. He would repeatedly tell us he can’t pay his workers on time. Why can't he pay his workers on time because if they are a legitimate business, they should have 20% cash reserves?
    6. Weekly schedule updates are useless because Lavan changes these dates at will and for any reason they want. Also the list doesn’t provide dates to a final inspection, why not?
    7. Our punch list took 2 years to complete! TWO YEARS!!! There was a 6 month delay for COVID but that still leaves 1.5 years to complete our punch list.
I know Moein will reply that I am a terrible person, but all I was doing was trying to manage our project. How would you feel if your contractor threatened you while your house was torn apart with no kitchen? They made the process awful and their work is very sloppy, as stated above on #4. DON’T HIRE LAVAN!

    Cabinets and bathroom remodel
    $40,000

We engaged Lavan construction for renovation of 2 bathrooms and addition of a number of storage closets in our house. We thoroughly enjoyed working with them beginning from the design phase to construction. The 3d renderings that Lavan provided of the choices we made for the bathroom stall shower was very helpful to visualize the final look. The tile work in particular was excellent. We added a couple of items in the end and lavan was able to accommodate it. We worked with Robert , lavan’s cabinet designer, to design a walk in wardrobe, kitchen pantry and hallway linen cabinet. His designs were accurate and focussed on utility. The quality of the material used and the execution was perfect to the last detail. Robert himself installed all of them in under a day. Overall we are very pleased with our experience with Lavan. Worth the money we spent.

    Remodel kitchen, bathroom, mud room

Our family decided to remodel our outdated kitchen, update the master bathroom and create an entryway bookcase and mudroom for our home. We looked around for a company that understood our needs and desires with the project and was easy to work with. Lavan was one several contractors we received a proposal and conducted an interview with. From very early on, we knew that they were someone we wanted to work with. They were transparent and upfront about this adventure we were both about to embark on as partners.

We started this project together and unbeknownst to all of us, learned we had all just entered a global pandemic. These are unprecedented times, there were many challenges that Covid-19 presented and the team at Lavan stood by our side and continued to work with us to ensure that we could continue and do what we could during this time.

While the project took longer than expected, the team at Lavan never left our side and continued to find ways to keep things moving as best they could and complete a beautiful remodel that we are very satisfied with.

We found that Moein and Fahid were very responsive to our questions and concerns throughout this project. Even when things didn’t always go as planned, the Lavan team was good about addressing any challenges and communicating with us that there would be an update and a solution.

Fahid’s knowledge and experience came through many times to help keep things moving, either dealing with various inspectors or sub contractors and navigating any unforeseen construction challenges. While our aesthetics may not have 100% matched at all times, we found him to be understanding, having great insight and vision and his communication style with both my wife and I helped to continue to put us at ease throughout the project.

Lavan is a family run business. Throughout our project we met most of the family. They are a growing business with a new design center and continue to look at ways to evolve their business to provide quality results for their clients. Lavan is built on honest hardworking people that you get to know and care about because they in kind care about you and your home!

    Remodeling
    $200,000

Working with Moein, Fahid and their team was a dream come true. We had a ton of work to do to make our new home move-in ready (bathroom remodelings, electric work, taking down outside structures to expand backyard, lots of odds and ends to fix a house that had been neglected) and Lavan surpassed our expectations on every dimension. Not only did they finish the project on-time (despite several “surprises” we all came across as work started getting done), but they met our budget expectations and did everything (and more) in their power to help us get the highest quality for the lowest price. They were beyond professional - they truly became part of our family through this project. They were trusted partners throughout - reliable, honest, organized and always with our best interests in mind. As someone who grew up in a construction family, I was overly impressed with the level of knowledge Fahid has. He is truly an expert in his craft, while being the nicest person to work with! I trusted his opinion and wouldn’t make a construction or design decision without his input. Fahid was also the only contractor (of 6 we met before hiring Lavan) that didn’t push their opinions too strongly or arrogantly at all - he always gave his expert opinion, but also always said it was most important that we were happy with our choices. He was patient and supportive as we made MANY decisions! Overall, a fabulous experience - if / when we ever do remodeling, we will absolutely hire Lavan again!

    new construction
    $900,000

Lavan Construction was referred to us by a family friend to help us with the design and build of our new home in Los Altos Hills back in 2017 and after interviewing Moein and Fahid (the owners) and five other contractors we instantly made a connection with Lavan team, and I'm here a year after the project's completion back in February of 2019 to share our experience with their potential future clients. Look no further; they are knowledgeable, honest, reasonable, and, most importantly, organized. Our agreement was eight months for the design, and permitting witch took about a year since it was strictly on Los Altos Hills authorities and not under Lavan's control; on the other hand, our construction took eleven months, and that's a month earlier than what was promised to us. Thank you, Lavan Team, for really coming through for us and making this dream home a reality, and most of all, thanks for being true to your words from the beginning.

    Addition and full remodeling
    $200,000

I reached out to Lavan Construction and shortly after met with one of the owners Moein! He was very thorough and transparent and after 2 weeks, we met Fahid and we decided to move ahead with Lavan Construction! Our project took 5.5 months and they finished before the promised date witch nowadays it's unheard of!!! We are so happy we choose them and appreciate all the care and extra attention they put into our project! They treat you as a family member and they treat your house as their own!!! We will not hesitate to hire them again and we highly recommend working with this hard-working family!

Big remodel - include room addition and remodel of existing bath rooms, kitchen, family room and flo
    $300,000

We completed a major remodel of our house last year. We added a new full suite bedroom/bathroom, we completely  remodeled our existing bathrooms, kitchen and family room.We moved  walls, plumbing and replaced  flooring.  From the time they started until they finished it was 3 months. This went smoothly and was as expected per contract and some delays if any was due to county inspection. Lavan construction was not the lowest bidder, but they were detailed and patient. This clearly gave us the best impression that they understood the job and how to get it done. They subcontracted most of the work to a variety of skilled workers (carpenters, drywall, electricians, HVAC, plumbers, etc). Everyone that came to our house to work was professional, proficient and worked quietly. Fahid is very patient and extremely professional. He works great at the ground level. Any ideas/changes we came up with, Fahid evaluated patiently and would candidly tell us if it was implementable or needed tweaks. We had to delay our project for a bit due to a medical situation, Fahid and Moein understood the situation and accommodated our requests without any issues. They made our dream house a reality.
As in any large project, there were things that had to be corrected and I will say Lavan Construction never debated or dragged its feet on any of them. We are very pleased with the results of our remodel and would not hesitate to hire them again.

    Addition, internal remodel

Lavan was the only General Contractor (GC) that we interviewed to support our project that impressed upon us that they were a true partner on a project that would have an everlasting impact on our lives for years to come. Their knowledge, experience, guidance, and transparent communication style more than made up for the fact that they were not the cheapest.

While things were not always perfect – show me a construction project that is – Lavan addressed each challenge head-on, communicating with us throughout, to keep us abreast of things as they arose so that we could work together to find the best possible solution and outcome. They are committed to not only ensuring your project meets all the local codes and other compliance variables, but that you are going to be happy with the finished product. If there was a potential for conflict between the two, they were quick to bring it to our attention and communicate the pros and cons, things they could and could not work around, and provided us the information to make the best, most informed decision.

    Remodel and addition

We worked with Lavan for a good part of 2019 while they did our house remodel & addition. This was a massive undertaking for us - we have never done anything like this before and had no idea what to expect. Lavan was one of the many GCs we talked to and we decided to go with them bc they seemed the most trustworthy and we still hold that opinion of them today. I had heard many horror stories from friends and colleagues who have done remodels and our experience w/ Lavan is far from that. They communicated with us the entire time, they provided solid guidance (we had a lot of questions), and their workmanship is solid. They are committed to doing quality work and the few times I wasn't quite happy with something (ie a cabinet door wasn't exactly aligned or one light wasn't rotated how I wanted it, small things like that), they did not hesitate to adjust or fix. They definitely care about all their projects as if they were their own houses and it shows.

    addition plus whole home remodel
    $350,000

Lavan Construction came highly recommended to us through our friends who had used them to do their remodel. I has heard horror stories about remodeling. Contractors becoming aggressive slowly through the duration of the project, change orders, high variability in timing etc. Both my wife and I are very busy silicon valley professionals with a young kid so we wanted someone who we could completely trust to take care of most things for us at the same time do a very high quality job. One thing off the bat that I noticed about them was they were very open to suggestion in our initial consultation and did technical due diligence in the second meeting (fahid) to point out things no one had pointed out before. I must say we had already hired an architect and a structural engineer but they managed to point out fundamental stuff in the plans that helped us avoid a huge headache later! I was sold right there.

Secondly, they gave us a gantt like chart from day1 and always kept us updated about the progress. Construction is a process in which days can easily become weeks and weeks become months. Much of it is beyond their control from what I could tell from our friends experiences but Lavan changed that! They were before time on completion ! Again, we are too busy to keep track of details but wanted to be involved enough to always have the bigger picture. We always knew well in advance when we had to pick out items {tiles, color, accessories} and sometimes Fahid accompanied us on weekends to help us make the choices. I was embarrassed once how much of his time we took one Saturday but he was in no rush at all!

We had no change orders apart from the additional stuff me and my wife added as work progressed (additional fireplace and mantle). True to their name, they treat you and your project like their own. These are genuine hardworking honest people. I am kind of surprised I am saying that since past many contractors I have hired, I have never has that experience. I had come to believe this profession and it's people that's what you get! Thank you for proving us wrong Fahid and Moein. You gave us a home far better that we had envisioned. God bless you!

PS: Additional point, Fahid had a lot of back and forth with us suggesting us a minor change which would make our kitchen more open. It took him weeks for us to be convinced, he patiently kept at it and eventually we now know how right he was! We are so glad we did what he suggested.

    Home remodel and addition

After all the recommended contractors went radio silent... Lavan construction stuck with it and is fantastic. Very honest, very transparent and very loyal to our project. They have been extremely helpful getting my project up and running... from helping me fix my architectural and structural plans to helping me understand the process of a big house renovation. Their pricing was very transparent and they work with me tirelessly to make sure everything is clear so we are all on the same page. They are professionals, which very key to this type of work.

    kitchen remodel

I cannot say enough about the high quality of work performed to date by Lavan Construction. I hired Lavan Construction to help design and build a new kitchen for my 1950’ era home. I asked Lavan and three other contractors come out to do a walk through and estimate for the remodel. Lavan was the only firm to do an in depth interviews of my wants and needs before coming back with a plan and associated cost estimate. Their years of construction experience were clearly evident as they examined, measured, and asked about what I wanted from the project. They came back to me with a detailed plan outlining the process, individual phases (Design, Structural Support and Remodel) and associated deliverables and costs. We are now in the Structural Support phase and I must say, that throughout the process to date, I have been kept informed about the work, they have brought in specialists (structural engineers) to ensure all work is up to or exceeds code before inspection and worked with me in finding the best materials within my budget. I am truly looking forward to my new kitchen.
