Lawnmasters provides lawn cutting & snow removal services to our home. In February 2014, they applied de-icer (magnesium chloride) to our sidewalk that destroyed the concrete. We must replace the sidewalk. Lawnmasters is claiming it is not their responsibility due to the frequent freeze/thaw cycles this winter, so they refuse to reimburse us for the new sidewalk we have to have installed. Our complaint is that Lawnmasters did not use “due care” in carrying out their duties. They came onto our property and caused damage. When you look at the literature on magnesium chloride, it is plainly stated it should not be used during frequent freeze/that cycles as it will cause extreme damage to concrete. As snow removal contractors, they should know magnesium chloride would damage the concrete (and it damaged many sidewalks in the neighborhood beside ours).
Lawnmasters has terrible customer service. We got three estimates to repair the sidewalk and we went with the least expensive. I contacted Lawnmasters and they will not offer any relief whatsoever, we would have been happy to split the cost with them.

Update 09/05/2014:
I filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau of PA. BBB wrote twice, but Lawnmasters did not reply to either correspondence. BBB indicated firms rarely ignore their request for information. If they don’t feel the need to respond to BBB, that’s not a good sign.
