I cannot give this contractor ANY stars (despite being made to)...We used this contractor 12 years ago......Biggest mistake ever......we are paying dearly today......Our heating/cooling unit was the first sign of things to come....It has been one big money pit for several years. We found out (after FINALLY getting someone who really knew what they were doing) that 2 different brands were installed (the part that went in the attic and the outside unit) and they were not compatible. The duct work was done all wrong and had to be redone. We finally ended up having to buy a used unit (which has given us NO trouble in the 2 1/2 years we have had it! The other "new" one was bad news after the first season) because we could not afford a brand new one. As of this very day---we find out we will have to replace our roof (of which was barely halfway into the shingle life). TWO different roofers have told us the same thing---we have a third coming tomorrow. They both said it was the crappiest work they had ever seen and the whole roof needed replacing........The second roofer told us that if all the shingles were off today we would be able to see the sunshine from inside the attic.....boards were broken or missing from under the felt paper....no "backer board" was ever placed down first.....We are looking at at LEAST $12,000...that we don't have.....I have thought long and hard over the last 12 years about how I wish to goodness I had been more careful in selecting our contractor (this particular one is the cousin of my childhood friend and I just knew he had to be as good as she was....how painfully wrong I was....). It has been 12 years of regret and quite a bit of money to fix/replace what we are still making mortgage payments on from the first go round. MAYBE he has become better in selecting fine, upstanding people to work on his crew----I can only hope so---but if he has not, PEOPLE, BEWARE. I have LONGED to give him a piece of my mind for YEARS....But, I will take ownership for having been young, stupid and ignorantly ill-informed......
