We hired Just Electric to wire our hot tub to 240. His electrician did the work, then turned on the empty spa to test but for some reason left it running for a long period of time. We heard the screeching noise but assumed it was from drilling into brick to mount the safety shut off box. When we finally went out to inspect their progress we learned that the awful noise was our hot tub, that was running with no water. We told the guy to shut it off and he casually stated that it was fine to run it dry for up to 10 minutes which is wrong. Once we filled the spa and turned it on, it screeched for a few seconds and quit permanently. Additionally, from running dry for so long, vapor locks were created in the pipes cause them to crack in 3 places at least. Water continued to leak out even through there was no circulation.
At first the owner Kevo said he was really sorry his employee did it and offered to buy a new pump/motor but it also had all the leaks that could not be accessed. We had to pay to have the hot tub hauled off. It had a new computer, heater, pump, motor and cover and worked perfectly with no leaks when we hired them to simply wire it. Kevo stated that his insurance would cover the damages. We wanted at least $2,000 to put towards a replacement. He agreed but then learned that his deductible was $2500,00. Instead of just doing the right thing, he created a totally false story that now stated that his employees had not run the tub for more than 3 seconds, and that after they left, we put one foot of water in the spa and ran it for 30 minutes and were trying to commit insurance fraud! We have owned hot tubs and pools for over 30 years and would never have done something so stupid. At this point we are going to small claims court in an effort to be compensated. Kevo is a liar and a crook.
