Legacy Builders on the Westcoast

Re-roof completed February 2023 after IAN - paid in full telling me all inspections passed. SRQ informed me July 2023 of a failed roof inspection and now blocking any further repair permits until resolved. Tried to work with Mark and Barry at Legacy Roofing on the West Coast (same company, same address, different LLC name) for over a month. No resolution, no feedback, blocked me on text and phone calls. Seeking legal resolution now. This was not the first problem. They tend to contract out work to the lowest / cheapest fly-by-night-bidder. Had previous issues with gutters (two kid brothers from Kissimmee) as well as others on the street that used this company for "repairs". Roofers shot nails through the AC system during the re-roof, they had someone come out and cut a hole in my ceiling so the AC company could repair the damage from inside. They (LEGACY ROOFING) never came back to fix the hole in my ceiling. Oh yeah - that was another fly-by-night-contractor (Rich & daughter) that cut it opened and stopped working for them shortly after. After a month of a hole in my ceiling sucking in HOT AIR - I patched my ceiling myself and they refused to compensate. Please do your research on their various company names and maybe think of a more reputable company that doesn't have multiple licenses and company names under one address making it difficult to pin down to resolve issues. Slow and sloppy. Took Legacy over two years to build and us three years to find and fix all the mistakes. Never hire Legacy to BUILD a NEW house…only buy a USED one several years old. By that time the original buyer will have found and fixed the mistakes, problems, and shoddy workmanship. Most review sites like this are unreliable because unhappy customers are afraid to post their true experience for fear of retribution or delaying the project even further. If you have to buy a Legacy house because you want to live in a location where it’s the only designated builder, my advice is to knock on doors of recent purchasers and ask about their experience. It shouldn’t take long to get an accurate realistic impression. Then at least you'll know what to expect and you can be prepared.

Buyer beware. Before hiring legacy do your due diligence. Talk with the people in The Woods in Laurel Park in Sarasota. Blackburn Estates on the Bay in Nokomis, Cassara Estates in Nokomis, check with the county records in Sarasota on how many lawsuit are currently open.
My only regret is Ithis have to give builder one star. I would had preferred to give them zero.
