He remodeled a bathroom for us, which took 4 months to complete rather than the 6-8 weeks that he originally promised. There were days on end that no work was done at our house! He kept asking for cash advances because he didn't have enough money to pay his subcontractors. During the time our bathroom was done, thefts occurred at our home, which he admitted was likely due to one of our workers. He told us that his insurance would cover it. It turns out that he was not insured for the majority of the time he was working on my house. I would steer clear of this guy at all costs.

We have had a very similar experience as Reg G did. Lester "Les" Arsenault did some remodeling for us. He originally promised 6 weeks. 5 months later, the job is still not complete. Weeks (not just days as in the case of Reg's experience) went by without any work being done at the house. He asked several times for advance payments to "pay my guys" which we (stupidly) gave him and it doesn't appear that he is going to come back to finish -- nothing short of theft. Every time we call, he has a different excuse as to why he's not coming that day, ranging from "my truck ran over a nail and I have a flat" to "the materials still haven't come in yet" (even though the materials could be picked up at any Home Depot). So now we are out several thousand dollars that we paid him in advance, and we need to find someone else to finish the job (and of course pay them as well).
