Here is a copy of the contract with Lifetime homes. We had a contract to finish the home July 2021. We paid upgrades along the way: tile ($15, 000), electric ($2000) etc. that were over allotted budget, we had a $25,000 lumber overage in place if needed. We were told 3 weeks before house was contracted to be completed (it was not near done) that we had to pay $475,000 more to finish the house. This is almost double the cost if you take out price of land. We were never told that we were overbudget at all. No other houses that were built at the same time in the neighborhood were $333/square foot. The builder never communicated, got angry and defensive when we asked about delays and what was going on. We were stuck in an apartment for 16 months waiting for house that was projected to be built in 6-8 months and not told anything. Then told we had to pay almost half a million dollars over contract. We understand that Covid delayed things and some things were more expensive. We have talked to other builders in the area and some were up to 25% over but what we were told was crazy. We lost the beautiful land that we loved and did not get our house. But overall, the experience was bad. They didn't communicate, put up things we did not approve, and were rude in general. The work site had trash and food spilled everywhere. I would not recommend for numerous reasons and not just because we did not get our home. We did consult a lawyer and got our money back that we had in the project, but the experience was awful.
