By Sandra M.August 27, 2020Purchased a “NEW” home. Garage door fell out of ceiling approximately 5 weeks after purchasing. Mr.$340,000
Horrible! The floor in my home on a concrete pad was never leveled. The wood is loose- not to mention the slopes throughout because he builds as CHEAPLY and dishonestly as he can. He wants to replace a few boards and move on. After 3 months, punch list is still unfinished. Don’t fall prey to the promises online. He doesn’t live up to any promises. Read the reviews. Same story over and over. Look somewhere else!

My wife and I purchased a house at Pinnacle at Arabella about a year and a half ago. Although we like the layout of the house, the panoramic mountain views and the location near Biltmore Park and the NC Arboretum, our experience with the builder, Bruce Alexander, has been horrible. After we moved in, we presented him with a punch list of repairs that needed to be done. Some of the repairs were finished but many of them still need to be completed. Bruce promised us in writing on more than one occasion that the repairs would be made but they were not. We have sent numerous follow-up emails to him about the status of repairs but now he doesn’t even give us the courtesy of a reply. All of the repairs are material defects that the builder promised to fix. He doesn’t honor his promises. Is that any way to run a business?
When we purchased our home we were told that the community had a swimming pool, hiking trails and a clubhouse that would soon be open. None of these amenities are easily accessible or available to us. You have to drive outside of the community to get to the swimming pool and the trails are very steep and dangerous. We were told that the clubhouse would be completed by the end of 2018 but we are still waiting for it in July 2020. They advertise that your home is “maintenance free” but that is true only if you are okay with your flower beds full of weeds. If you don’t like weeds, you have to get rid of them yourself.
When we purchased our house, we were told that our monthly HOA fees would be $72.50. With no notification and before we received our first bill, our HOA fee was increased by 86%. Additionally, the property management office has unprofessionally sent us late fee notices even though they never sent us a bill in the first place.
We are very unhappy. We regret buying at Pinnacle at Arabella.

Too bad I can't give zero stars- that's what they deserve. My experience has been very typical- house construction delayed(target date: 2/2018, actual close 8/2018). Punchlist has been dragging on for 8 months and not completed. Empty promises that they never honor. Can't hold on to project managers to help guide the process, as they all quit.

Our experiences are the same as everyone else: promises, promises but then no follow-up delivery. Currently have a punch list that goes back months. Part of their problem is that they can't seem to hold on to employees and many of their subs are subpar. If we knew what we know now--and had seen the poor reviews they've gotten--we would have gone elsewhere.

By Melissa Knight K.July 12, 2017We purchased a home already under construction in The Vistas of Westfield
We have had a horrible experience with this builder. We initially discovered moldy baseboards in our bedroom in August after moving in June 11, 2016. After a particularly heavy rain, water and mud rushed into the bedroom. Lifestyle attempted to put a "bandaid" on the problem but water continued to come in.
We. personally, hired an engineer who has made recommendations to make this home free from future water damage but there has been no attempt by Bruce Alexander or his employees to correct the problem since.
It is our experience that Mr. Alexander and his employees can look you straight in the eye and tell you that they will fix a problem "tomorrow" or "next week" with no intention of ever doing that.
We have lived here in The Vistas of Westfield since June of 2016 and our water problem and damage has not been resolved nor has our punch list been completed. -

This builder is terrible. Good luck on getting your punch list finished. Terrible at getting back to you. Promises things and does not deliver. Ethics in doubt as well.

Lifestyle Homes of Distinction is the contractor/builder of Pinebrook Farms. Beginning with the sales process, there have been many statements that were misleading or lacking complete veracity with regard to the placement of our home on the lot, the time line for construction, and follow-up of punch list items and warranty service. Construction was delayed by more than six months and Lifestyle attempted to force closing without completion of construction. During that six-month delay period, multiple completion dates were given that were not met, resulting in excessive rental, storage and associated expenses incurred by the buyer. Recently, Lifestyle has continually delayed over a seven month period the completion of punch list items that were to be completed within the first month of occupancy. Also, warranty repair requests have been ignored. Additionally, there are a number of poor quality of construction issues.

While looking for a community for my Mom, we met with Lifestyle Homes in Asheville. I found them to be extremely helpful, knowledgeable and was impressed by their focus on one level, turn key living-which is exactly what she needed. While I did see they had some negative reviews, they were transparent and shared they had been impacted by staffing issues and lack of access to materials in the past two years. They assured us that is no longer the case. We spoke to several happy residents as we toured the homes (which are beautiful). We were impressed by their warranties and new/improved move-in times. This company has been providing homes to the active adult population for 20+ years. They are dedicated to their mission to provide this population an easier lifestyle. I am always willing to judge a company by my own experience-which was extremely positive. We are in the process of selecting one of their communities now (they have 4!). My Mom is excited about their customization options for countertops, paint, appliances....but they also offer move in ready units as well. I say they are worth a tour and a conversation if you are looking for one level, turn key living for yourself or a loved one! All companies grow and improve and overcome challenging times....and they are no exception! The important thing, to me is their commitment to their mission and to making the changes needed to ensure they can deliver exactly what the customer wants.
