I am writing this review to warn anyone considering hiring RBC Builders Group/Limelight Construction. My experience with them has been an absolute nightmare, resulting in significant financial loss, stress, and a completely unfinished home. They are, in my opinion, completely unprofessional and dishonest.
We contracted them for a home renovation project in October 2023. By May 2024, we had paid them 92% of the total project cost, as per their "Pay at Commencement" terms. This was a HUGE mistake. We later discovered they had essentially embezzled our funds, using them for personal gain instead of our project. Our project stalled for months with open walls, rodent infestations, no AC or heating, no flooring, and no electricity in the main living area. We were left with only the upstairs as a barely livable space while our home was a construction zone disaster.
Despite my repeated requests, they failed to provide a project schedule or any clear plan for completion. They even had the audacity to request additional payments for items like doors and windows, which we had already paid for! They couldn't even provide receipts for the work they did (or didn't) do.
The project, initially estimated to take 4-6 months, dragged on for 15 months with no end in sight. The quality of the work was consistently poor, requiring multiple revisions. The crews they sent were often inexperienced, lacked English proficiency, and were difficult to communicate with. Work was sporadic, often skipped entirely, and they even did unauthorized weekend work, violating our contract. To add insult to injury, their workers frequently complained to us about not being paid by the company.
They also failed to provide basic necessities like a proper waste bin and portable toilet, as stipulated in the contract. They left our property a mess.
After months of trying to work with them in good faith, we finally terminated our contract. They have breached the contract in countless ways, causing us immense financial hardship and stress. We are now left with a partially completed home and a huge mess to clean up.
DO NOT make the same mistake we did. Avoid RBC Builders Group/Limelight Construction at all costs. They are dishonest, unprofessional, and incapable of completing a project. I will be pursuing all available legal remedies to recover our losses. I would give them zero stars if I could.
