By R. G.June 23, 2021Repair leaking pipe$100
David was assigned through AHS.com to complete a simple copper pipe leak. When he left, we still had the same leak plus an additional leak where he stressed the copper pipe at the joint from trying the repair the leak in the middle of the pipe with a shark byte. We called him back to fix what he failed to fix the first time and he gave us some garbage line that "Your water pressure is too high." Really David? If that was the case then none of the other shark bytes and repairs preformed by plumbers before you would not have worked yet, they had no problem fixing the leaks. David had to be asked to leave the property because he would rather argue with the homeowner about it.

I too wish I could give a zero star review. These guys are worthless. Took them over a month to “diagnose” I had a water pressure issue, which once I paid a real plumber to come out and check I was told there was no issue there. The hot after heater itself was no good. Stay away from these morons

By Jennifer R.July 8, 2020Replace water heater
David went out of his way to try and help me get my 29-year old water heater covered by my home warranty. When that didn't work, he helped to get a high quality heater at very reasonable cost. He was easy to keep in contact with and helpful along the way with clear maintenance recommendations. This was a pleasant experience. I would hire again.

I would give a zero but there is no option. I got his number because American Home Shield uses Loftis Home Improvement. I had a broken water heater. He came out and looked at it. He told me that he ordered an "industrial" water heater for me and there may be just a little bit extra charges to bring it to code. AHS called me and told me that extra charges was $1500 that I would have to pay. What a rip off. I already paid this guy $100. AHS needs to get rid of dishonest companies like that and hire some better people.

By MaxJuly 19, 2017Fix leaky hot water heater
Take my advice, avoid this man. I am having the exact same experience as Peter R. above (Dec 30, 16 post). Steve was sent out by American Home Shield to diagnose a leaky hot water heater... Steve is the type who fleeces the system... he tried to tell me that my water heater needed to be replaced but they don't make that size anymore so he had to rework all the plumbing. (Hence more $$ from my warranty company to his pocket.) He was short with me on the phone (when I actually could reach him), and when I questioned him on him being confrontational, he calls the warranty company and tells them I'm being verbally abusive. Then won't respond. It seems he is now trying to throw a monkey wrench into the claims process just to spite me because I called him out on his lack of integrity. I'm convinced he would not last without being associated with a home warranty company... word would get out about how he operates and he would never get another job.

By a user in EasleyApril 19, 2017Water heatersBEWARE!!!
These people were contracted by my home warranty, American Home Shield, to come out for our water heaters. The person who came out was NOT a licensed plumber as was expected by my home warranty but a handy man. He didn't know his head from his a$&. I was told he ordered the parts necessary for repair and I paid the service fee via check to a personal name, not company name.
I later was contacted by them saying that freezing temperatures are what caused the damage; therefore, my home warranty would not cover the repairs. Then they were VERY quick to offer to fix the problem at a VERY high cost.
I had two other licensed plumbers come out for an estimate and both told me that the damage had absolutely nothing to do with freezing temperatures.
DO NOT hire these people. If you have AHS home warranty, this company has been flagged and should no longer be being used by them. Needless to say, I did not hire them and cancelled my home warranty with a complete refund of my premium. -

Worst customer service I have ever received! Mr. Loftis was a complete no show on three separate occasions. Not only did he. It showed up for our scheduled appointment he did not call to advise. After contacting him he had one excuse after another. I am one and a half months into this plumbing issue with no resolution. Stay away from this contractor.

By Peter R.December 30, 2016Replace a leaking hot water heater14 days
David Loftis was assigned by American Home Shield to replace our gas hot water heater. The only time he showed up was to collect his $75 fee and verify that the hot water tank needed to be replaced. He incorrectly told AHS that additional work needed to be done, didn't show up on four separate occasions and then decided that he didn't want to do the work fourteen days after his original quote! He only called once to say he was going to be late (but then never did come). His cell phone mailbox was often at the maximum so you couldn't even leave a message. He is definitely the most unprofessional contractor I have ever had to deal with over the last 44 years of owning homes around the country. I would not recommend Loftis Home Improvement to anyone.

I would NOT recommend Loftis Home Improvement to anyone! They came out to our home for an initial appointment June 29, diagnosed the problem but said they would have to order parts in order to fix the issue completely; would call us once the parts arrived. We called them July 13 after no word - he says "I can come out tomorrow between 4 & 6 pm". We wondered how long he had actually had the part and just not called us, seeing as how he was able to offer to come the very next day. The next day, he called & left a message asking if he could come earlier than our scheduled appt time - we missed the call, but would not have been able to do the earlier time anyways. So we still planned on 4-6 pm as originally discussed. They were a no show. So we called back a left a voicemail asking to reschedule. By July 23, still no return phone call, so we called again, voicemail was full. We sent an SMS notification to their cell phone; we e-mailed them, at the e-mail address provided on their business card; and also called a second phone number that we found after searching online. Left a message with a woman who said they were not in at that time, would have them call us. July 25, they tried to call us, and we missed the call. We called back around 12 noon and were able to leave a voicemail. By 5:30, no return call, so we called again. Scott answered, acted like he was familiar with our situation but asked several questions, then said "I'm in the middle of doing something right at this moment, can I call you right back? I promise I will call back in 30 minutes". I said ok. An hour later, no phone call, so again we called them back. Scott answered again, no apologies for not calling back and instead offering the excuse of "we just got in from vacation". He asked about coming by in 2 days to finish the job; I instead requested that the replacement parts he ordered for us be mailed to our house... It has been almost a month since he had come by our house - I did not want them coming back, plus we did not want to take a chance that they still wouldn't show up! They do not seem too interested in customer service or making sure they take care of things in a timely manner. Very disappointed, especially since this was not a very involved job, to begin with.

Our first experience with Loftis after the first contractor recommended by AHS didn't show even though we had agreed to pay the additional fee for coming out on a Sunday.
David and his coworker came when they said they would and what we had anticipated as being an expensive and lengthy problem, turned out to be only a PVC pipe needing gluing. Came apart, it seems, when tripped over by the last person in our crawlspace, our tri-monthly bug spraying person, which had been performed about 2 months prior, reason why there was 3" of water. Did I mention that the crawlspace was also encapsulated? Reason why it was a bit easier to discern where the water was trickling from.
But, all said and done, we were very grateful and thankful for David's professionalism, honesty & quickness of response. Would definitely use this contractor again.

Steve did a great job with my garbage disposal/dishwasher repair. He was friendly, responsive and professional. I would recommend him and will use him again.

I would not recommend Loftis Home Improvement. Steve Loftis didn't complete the job he said he would. He installed a water heater in my home and quoted a price of $300.00. He said the price would include deliver of the new water heater, removal and disposing of the old tank, installing an expansion tank (required by code) and sediment filter. He didn't install the expansion tank. I contacted him and the expansion tank, he said he would come back and install it but never has.
