Upon arrival at our beach home at Matthew Circle in Lewes the propane heater was not working. Called 302-945-4358 Long Neck Plumbing and Heating(license # 2006205563) and spoke to the owner Mike Delcampo. He came out and a decision was made to replace the heater for $5000 dollars. The next date 2 employees arrived with a new furnace to replace the old one. The heater was not used during the summer and fall season and kept at 45 during the winter so had little use. when I next got down on 4/16/2024 I turned on the heater it made a clicking sound and had expended a lot of soot during this period. I checked the lighter chamber and a flame shot out similar to a blow torch at which point I shut down the unit. I tried to call Long Neck Plumbing twice but got no answer only a message that said, This is Mike leave a message and I will return your call. I then called out propane provider, Poores Propane, who sent out a technician who stated that I should call the installer. He pointed out a LP nozzle taped to the front of the unit that needed to be installed to complete the conversion from natural gas to propane. He stated that not doing this was an extreme fire risk and explained the presence of soot all over the area, My wife did finally reach a lady at Long Neck Plumbing who told her about the botched installation their employees had done. She stated that they accepted no responsibility for the installation mistake. As of this time we have heard nothing from Long Neck Plumbing. The heater is unsafe to use, still needs the conversion from natural gas to LP., needs to be cleaned from soot build up and if the heat exchanger is cracked if it is cracked the unit may need replacement. The lack of acceptance of responsibility should warn anyone who decides to engage with this business.
