    Hardwood and tile work

Dwayne long came and gave us an wonderful price which we took and were so happy to get our floor in.Toward the end of the job he wanted more money. That wasn't a problem because he gave me a good price.so I paid.He was going to come back the next day and finish up..Never happened...then left the floor unfinished molding and the grout was never completed and we called many times no answer. It's a shame.I shouldn't trust people to much.

Dwayne Long came out to our house (with his young, unattended daughter in tow) and gave us an estimate for removal of carpet and tile, and installation of TimberCore flooring. This was on or around 5/23, with the assurance that our job could be completed on or around the first of June. We paid half of the quote up front (over $1700) so that he could purchase the materials.

What followed was several weeks of intermittent excuses as to why he didn't have the materials on hand, largely blaming his distributor. Dwayne dodged repeated phone calls and voicemails from myself and my husband, and ignored multiple emails looking for information and updates. My husband had to dig up an alternate phone number for him before he could get him to even answer the phone.

Finally, on JUNE 15th, Dwayne texted me indicating that he could perform the job on Saturday. We asked how long the job would take, and he said it would be finished in one day. My husband and I spent the next two days completely emptying our first floor (living room, dining room and kitchen) of all furniture and knick-knacks. By Saturday AM the first floor was largely unlivable, but we believed we'd be able to put it back together that evening.

Dwayne said he would be there with his crew between 8 and 9 AM. At 8:30 AM I received a text that his crew had not shown up, and he would not be able to finish the same day, but asking if I still wanted him to come. I asked if he'd be able to finish on Sunday, and he remarked "I'm not working seven days."

I then asked when he'd be able to finish, if he started that day. He didn't respond. 10-15 minutes later my husband tried to call him at the same number he'd just texted from, and there was no pickup or voicemail. He tried again about 10 minutes after that, with the same result. I sent him a text saying that we were done having him dodge us and make excuses, and that we either wanted our money back in full (the $1711 that we paid) or we wanted our materials so that we could find another contractor.

We did not hear from Dwayne at all on Saturday or Sunday.
On Monday AM I received a text from him announcing that he was "on his way." I explained that we were both at work.

He had numerous excuses, from the fact that his phone was destroyed, to the fact that a previous customer didn't pay him on time.

We reiterated that we had lost all confidence in his ability to do the work at all, let alone to do it well, and that we either wanted our money back, or the materials, plus the difference in his COST for the materials (so if the materials cost him $700, we wanted the materials plus the $1000 he would otherwise be making in profit -- he had done absolutely nothing to earn any kind of profit on this job at all.)

Dwayne balked and refused to tell us his cost, stating that "everyone marks up materials."

I told him that if he was so adamant against revealing his cost, then he could simply refund our deposit altogether. That was Monday AM at approximately 10 AM. I have not heard from him since, despite repeated requests for an update as to his intentions.

I called Lucida, the distributor for the TimberCore product, and was informed by a representative of the company that they too had been trying to get in touch with Dwayne for quite awhile, with no response. They further indicated that Dwayne still had not paid for materials he'd ordered from them.

Since Dwayne has repeatedly refused to resolve this amicably, we are now going to be looking into litigation, reporting this to the BBB, and also to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office.

Dwayne is not registered as a Home Improvement Contractor with the state of Pennsylvania (which is required by law) nor did he provide us with the legally-required 3-Day Right of Rescission at the time that he gave us our estimate. The fact that 2 of the 3 5-star reviews on this profile are from Dwayne himself, and an employee, should have been indication to us that he was not to be trusted, but unfortunately that wasn't a discovery we made until after he already had our money.

I have both emails and text messages backing up everything that I've stated here, and will be happy to provide them to anyone who would like to investigate the validity of this review.

Do not trust this man or this company with either your money or your home improvement needs.
