We recently hired Lou to paint our one family home. We hired Lou to paint our 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, living, room, dining room, hallways, ceiling and den. Unfortunately we were left very unhappy with the quality of the work provided by Lou. After he put one coat of paint on the ceiling we noticed many streaks and paint lines. When we pointed this out to him, he stated it was because of the new drywall that was put up. My wife insisted he put a second and possibly a third coat to correct the issue. Naturally this resolved the problem, but the fact that he was quick to make excuses and blame others was a sign of things to come. We also noticed that our bathroom had many bare spots that he missed while painting. When we mentioned it to Lou, he once again blamed the drywall. The only problem is we didn't put up new drywall in the bathroom. I guess he forgot about that. Lou also painted the moldings on the stair case but did not bother to use a dropcloth or painters tape. The end result is that we have paint all over our wooden stairs and they are ruined (I have pics.) When I confronted him about this he said my wife told him she was going to cover them. I reminded him that regardless, more care should have been given to doing a neat job. His response was very telling when he said "it's not my problem. I have done this a thousand times." We also were dismayed to find out Lou took it upon himself to paint our kitchen crown moldings the same color as the wall instead of white, or even asking us our preference. Of course this was also done sloppily with paint on the ceiling. Naturally he said the paint on the ceiling couldn't be helped. Finally when we looked over the job at completion, we noticed no less than 20 areas that he had missed. We asked him to please go over those areas, and to his credit, he was able to fix around 14 of them. The rest we decided we were too tired to fight with him over and really didn't want to hear anymore of his sorry excuses. It is clear that Lou's lack of professionalism, work ethic, and willingness to admit fault has earned him this one star rating.
