I put two stars instead of one only because of the Esnault Cuevas’ good personality. If only his skills could match his personality!
We had contract with Lovely Home Construction to do the bathroom remodeling. The job supposed to be finished in three weeks. After five weeks of the work we had enough. And Cuevas (he asked to be called by his last name) started another project with another client, so it looked like the bathroom would never be finished. We had to terminate the contract. And the quality of the job was unbelievably low – the wall tiles have unusual wave patterns and ripples in both vertical and horizontal directions. The vertical line of the tiles deviated from the wall so much that finishing the top, putting electric outlets, etc. presented additional problems. The decorative row of the glass tiles that was supposed to be a decoration was so bad that I had eventually to remove it completely. I redid the tiling, something I have never done before, and it looks incomparably better than the job of this professional contractor.
The first time my wife touched the shower faucet, it just fell apart. The contractor was not able to follow the instructions to install the show system how the manufacturer intended it. The reason is that the piping was done way too deep in the wall (and by the way, we pointed it to him immediately, but he just waved it out. OK, he’s a professional…). So, Cuevas decided to improvise and put some extensions. Whatever parts supposed to be directly connected now had to be either connected somehow differently or glued to the wall. And Cuevas just loves to glue things – I guess he assumes it’s the last time this piece will ever be touched, so it’s save to glue it - nobody ever would need to disconnect it.
To be fair, Cuevas is a hardworking, polite, easy-to-deal-with person. But I don’t think he has any experience in this area. So, he is learning on the job. As the result, the quality is low; the speed of work is unbelievably slow. He had to stay late trying to speed up the progress. But he did one wrong decision after another, which caused additional problems he also had to figure out how to solve.
If you want to pay a reasonable price for the work, don’t mind not being able to use a shower for at least a month, and don’t care about the quality – it’s the contractor for you. Otherwise, hire somebody else - you’ll pay more in terms of money, but will save a lot in terms of nerves, time and expenses to re-do it anyway.
