    Other Flooring project

LW Construction worked quickly to replace our water damaged living room, kitchen and hall in order to get our tenants safely back into the house. This included redoing the wallboard as well as replacing the cabinets and installing new flooring. The walls needed texturing and it was done beautifully! The teams worked quickly and we had good communication. My only concern is that they did not replace the kick plates in the kitchen, leaving us to figure out how to do it.

    Bathroom Remodel project

Lamine, the project manager and owner is very honest, easy to communicate with, and was very conscious of keeping our project on budget. In addition to the bathroom remodel Lamine's team also fixed several areas of dry rot around our house (including the supporting beams for the bathroom), and replaced an old fence. Lamine also worked very well will with our other contractors (electrician and plumber).

drywall installation and repair, build wood platform for storage room
    $2,600

Great experience all around. Lamine was very personable, knowledgeable and attentive. The workers were punctual, efficient and very considerate. They cleaned up well after they were done. They also fixed a leaking faucet in my garage (unsolicited) which I discovered after they had completed the project. I would definitely use them again.

Lamine and his crew have done several large and small projects for us, including building a complete, lovely outdoor "living room". It is too nice to call it a patio! Not only is his work excellent, but he goes out of his way to make sure that the highest standards of quality and aesthetics are met. We will continue to use his services for our future projects and recommend him without reservation.

Partial demolition and restructuring of outdoor log deck

We were in a real bind with our situation. Our log deck really took a beating through the last 10 years of sun sun sun and now all this rain! Part of it literally started falling down and I didn't know where to turn. I got LW Construction's name from the Nextdoor website in our neighborhood and saw that others in our community had used him. We had him over to look at the project and discuss a bid. He came over right away and was so knowledgeable, so respectful and clearly concerned about doing the right thing in the right way that we knew he would do a good job. He was able to do the job that very weekend (his two crew members were great too!) and voila, crisis averted. We had him look at a few others projects on our bucket list too, and plan to do those as well! They were punctual, respectful of our neighbors, finished when they said they would and the place looked better than it did when they got there. Very satisfied customer!

    Condo Repair After Water Damage

I had water damage to my condo due to a sewage backup and after the restoration company demolished about 15% of my walls and broke a floor tile, I contracted LW Construction to put the place back together along with providing a bid for non-insurance related work. While the work product is up to par, the process required me to essentially become a Project Manager. I was constantly reviewing the tasks completed daily and finding flaws. With the work complete, the walls look great (2 foot cutouts are hardly noticeable); the new floor is beautiful, but creaky in spots; and most of my outlet covers were not replaced (scheduled to be rectified this week) and one outlet no longer works.

As far as the non-insurance bid, the initial bid did not include all of the requested work. Additionally, the bid was not in the format requested (itemized in order to select certain items). When the insurance work began, I notified Lamine that the bid was missing items and he assured me that I'd receive and updated quote. However, it is almost a month later and I have not received the update. I'm assuming this means LW Construction is disinterested in completing the non-insurance work, which could have been communicated up front.

In general, the quality of work done was satisfactory and in some places above-average. The attention to detail and the "end-of-day" setting (how the place looked at the end of a day's work) were the only real negatives. I'd come home to garbage and debris directly outside my front door (which normally wouldn't be too big of a problem, but is a violation of my HOA's guidelines).

Response from LW Construction & Handyman Services March 24, 2017
Hi Michael. Thank you for requesting additional, non-insurance work at your home. I saw your mom with a gentleman who I thought started working on the kitchen cabinet repair and I though you went with him instead. As we discussed in the beginning, we would start with the insurance approved work first and attend to the additional work later. We gave you a proposal for that work too that we had to back out of the initial proposal at the time. We will be happy to revise it to include all the items once you submit a request for service with BuildZoom listing all items. We will attempt to price them as you request by line items. (Please note that any line items will revert to our minimum service call if you decide to complete individual line items separately and at different time. For example, if a line item takes 15 minutes to repair but it takes 1 hour round trip for example, we will charge you a minimum service call. We have a habit of including the project owner by asking them and walking through with them to ensure their satisfaction. We have never asked you to be a project manager since you leave early for work before we show up and we leave the work place before you get back. You had your neighbor open and close the door for you or I would call you to turn on the alarm. We could not find the outlet covers and we said we would be back to re-install them after they were removed by the other contractor who dried up the leak. Yesterday we replaced the plug and intermittent connection. The squeaking spot on the floating laminate floor close to the baseboard is due to the un-even subfloor and the open end of the tongue and groove. Finish nail would come up right away. Gluing that board would create a stress on other board tongue and groove and would propagate the squeaking.

It's been a very long time since I've dealt with a contractor that I am 100% satisfied with. Lamine and his men did a great job. Very professional. Estimate was exact, with no cost overruns. He also got the job done very quickly. The quality is remarkable. Even the concrete backer-board that's installed under the sub-floor where no one would see it was precisely cut with no gaps. It was like he was building furniture. He has great pride in his work and he's a person of integrity. Here is his number (707) 553-6126 and email [email protected].

Our experience with Lamine and his company has been above the best! We started working with him over 2 years ago and will continue to work with him. He is honest and trustworthy, and when he says he will be there, he will be there! There have been times when we have been out of town and needed our properties to be available, for renters, etc., Lamine has gone out of his way to being there for us! We highly recommend LW Construction!
