    Bathroom Remodel project

I am a big fan of reading reviews before I purchase a product or service which is why I feel the need to be 100% honest in my review of Lynnlee Construction. The reason I chose Tim’s company for my complete bathroom remodel was based on his reviews. He was not the cheapest but I prefer quality over value when it comes to my home. I received a quote for switching the location of my shower and tub, new tile/fixtures in shower, glass shower enclosure, new toilet, floor tile in closet and bathroom and paint and drywall work. I had a low soffit over my existing shower that needed to be removed to open up to existing ceiling height. Tim’s time estimate for the entire project was 2 weeks to a month. The project started on Monday, July 17th, and ended on Friday, October 6th (2 months and almost 3 weeks later the project was complete).
Here is how the project went:
I had to leave a key with them to access my home as I work full time so I was not home to monitor what was going on. Tim assured me that he or the plumber would be there at all times and he trusted his plumber, big mistake!!!
The demo, framing, and rough plumbing went fine although they did sit on my chairs on my front porch and in the garage and left drywall/tile dust all over them and helped themselves to my broom and dust pan in my kitchen to do construction cleanup which left dust all over both (ok, I let that go).
When it came time for the tile, Tim had me go to a local floor and tile showroom and pick out samples of the tile. I purchased and then showed Tim the samples I had chosen for him or his plumber to purchase rather than me purchase myself per his instruction. I asked him if he needed the receipt and he said he didn’t as he knew the samples well. The day before they were to start tile work I happened to open the floor tile box and it was the wrong tile. I informed Tim and he stated this was no problem that the plumber would purchase the correct tile in the morning which he did. Thank goodness I opened the box before they got started!!!
That Saturday morning Tim was there as was the plumber and tile person. This was the day the tile was to start. After Tim left, my husband and I were in our detached garage when we saw the tile persons van back out of the driveway about an hour and a half after they had arrived. Shortly after, the plumber backed out of the driveway. We did not see anyone for about two hours until the plumber returned. The tile person never returned. My husband and I continued on with what we were doing in the garage assuming all was well even though we didn’t know why the tile person left. The plumber did send his assistant out to ask us for a 2x4 which we gave to him. When I finally went in to the bathroom I saw the 2x4 nailed to the wall half way up the shower and the plumber was laying tile up to the board. The tile at that point didn’t look bad. Again, I assumed this was all normal and continued on with my day. By the end of Sunday the plumber had his assistant come in and tell me they were done and goodbye. I walked into my bathroom to look at the tile and I was in disbelief as to how it looked. This was subway-type Travertine tile so you have sheets of small squares. The plumber had started from the outside and worked his way in to the corner of the shower and broke off pieces of tile to fill in holes where the tiles didn’t exactly meet up (this was very obvious and looked horrible). I had 4 corner shelves (remember that number) that were included in my quote that were so unevenly spaced that a child could have done a better job. The floor of the shower had waves in it. I was shocked to say the least!!! (Later I would find out the tile guy had quit due to some disagreement with Tim and the plumber was trying to take up the slack even though he did not know how to hang tile). I immediately called Tim and he said he would come look at on Monday. I received a phone call from him on Monday and he agreed the tile was a terrible job and would rip the whole thing out and have someone else do the job.
The plumber ended up calling in a favor to a fellow tile tradesman named Ron. Of this entire disaster of a remodel, Ron was awesome. He took over a week to tile the shower and floors but it was perfect!!!!! Thank you Ron!!! I also must say he was very nice and respectful of my home. One issue I did find, they must have broken one of the corner shelves when they were taking the mess of a tile job down because when Ron was done, I only had 3 shelves, remember I mentioned 4 above? At no time did anyone ever say anything to me about it or replace the shelf. After Ron completed the tile Tim had the plumber return to complete the grout. I came home from work one day to find my personal mop wet and filthy in my laundry room leaned against the wall dripping on the floor. The plumber had again helped himself to my personal belongings. I again contacted Tim and he said he would buy me a new mop (really not the point here). Upon completion of the grout (which was a dark brown color to match my wood-look tile floors), the baseboards had this brown grout smeared on them. I assumed that for $15,000 the baseboards would be painted to cover up the grout smears but this did not happen. Also, after completion of this whole job, my husband was replacing both faucets in the bathroom with new ones when he found a solid block of grout in the p-trap of my sink. The plumber had been rinsing his grout mess in my sink instead of outside.
Let’s move on to the ceiling where the soffit had been removed over the old shower. I came home one day to what Tim said was completed drywall and surfacing of the ceiling. What I saw was a square outline on the ceiling of where the old soffit was removed which looked like it had been barely sanded and what looked like a spray can job from Home Depot of ceiling texture (I have pictures). Again, for $15,000 I expected a bit more. When I called Tim he got an attitude with me and at this point I was livid. I told him my husband and I could have done that job and that is why we were paying what we thought were professionals. After losing my cool and hanging up with him, I guess he thought about it and figured I might just have a point. He hired someone who professionally surfaces ceilings and had it fixed. By the end of this project I was exhausted and never wanted them in my home again!!!
This is getting long so I am going to list some other issues:
-Painted my bathroom with shiny paint without asking my preference when I had him repaint, ½ of the bathroom is still shiny and now ½ is eggshell…he never completed repaint
-Took out my old towel bars and hung the new ones much lower on the wall than the original, never asked me about this and they are LOW
-Cigarette butts left on the floor of my garage and in my yard waste bin
-One final blow here, today is February 15, 2018 and the plumbing behind the shower wall is leaking. My husband will be fixing this!!!!!!

Tim Hodge with Lynnlee Construction conducts business in a very professional manner. He recently completed a new roof for me and the work performed was outstanding. The work was started and completed on time although there was some unseen damage that needed to be replaced once they began their work. I am very satisfied with the work performed and the extreme care they took while working on my house. I would recommend Lynnlee construction to any one needing repairs or remodels done to their house.

I had a terrific experience with LynnLee Construction when I put a significant two-story addition on my house. The principal, Tim Hodges, was on site daily to ensure the work was done correctly. Tim consistently offered suggestions for cutting costs throughout the project, resulting in significant cost savings. Tim supervised the work with excellent attention to detail. In the end, our project was completed on time, under budget and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. I highly recommend LynnLee construction.

I have worked with LynnLee on several municipal projects. Examples of projects are: renovations to existing buildings, ADA compliance issues - restrooms, sidewalks, handrails and ramps. Their work is meticulous and their schedules are dependable. When we had warranty work, they promptly responded. As a knowledgeable GC, I often go to them for advice on complex issues for cost effective solutions. They are trustworthy.
